Abby's Gratitude Journal

I would like to start making my Gratitude Journal right here on 7 Cups. smiley This will be an "open journal", so if anyone wants to read and reply, you can do so. smiley

A dear listener friend of mine here made the suggestion to start a gratitude journal, and I really think it will be a great idea as well. enlightenedyes It is important, especially when times get difficult, to count our blessings and be thankful for what we already have. For example ... I've had to deal with the hurt of having some who I thought would be close friends not only stop talking to me, but lie to me about it and lead me on to believe that they would begin taling to me again. So ... what do I do? I think about the true and genuine friends that I already have and I am thankful for them ... including the one who suggested that I start a gratitude journal. blushheart

So, what am I thankful & grateful for today? Well ... it might not sound like much to be actually thankful for, but it was this morning at work when I had poured off some of the specimen from a primary tube into the wrong short sample cup for a shared specimen setup because I was rushing myself and didn't see that the short sample cup was not positioned next to the correct primary tube. I noticed my mistake relatively soon after, but not before some of the results autofiled ... meaning that I had to find the correct primary tube and then program the accession number it was to be shared with to run the tests for the correct sample, and then call the patient's floor and tell the doctor or nurse that I need to change the result in the cimputer. So ... WHY am I grateful for this when I had made a mistake that I'm not really proud of having made? Because I showed that I was not afraid to own up to it, make myself accountable for it, and do what I needed to do to rectify the mistake. yes

Im thankful today to have gotten through the workday. 👍 It was exhausting both mentally and (especially later) physically but I made it and got that linearity study done so it wont be hanging over my head anymore. 🙂

I also am thankful that I, my manager, and my chief tech that I was having serious disagreements and mistrust with got together and talked some stuff over so we could all try to understand each other. 👍

I made a difficult decision today because I had really been looking forward to these events, tomorrow afternoon but because of the oppresive (and dangerous) heat and humidity bumping temperatures up past 100 degrees, I had to bow out because I know that I'm taking a big risk going out there with my tendency to get dehydrated quickly (and my prescription meds exacerbate that because the primary side effect is dehydration because they both have <unintended> diuretic effects ... also leading to electrolyte loss in adition to the dehydration).

So ... I'm staying home tomorrow, but I'll look on the bright side ... I'm taking a self-care siesta fiesta! yessmiley I won't be bored, because I got plenty to do at home ... I can post and chat on here, I can play computer games, I can watch baseball on TV, I can read novels, I got more than enough "free" coffee (because I bought it already ... I just have to make it cheeky), and I can sleep later! It's a good deal! yessmiley

I am thankful today to be able to chill out (literally? laugh) and not have to go out in that dangerous heat and humidity today. I enjoyed just staying home. smiley

I'm gonna be thankful for my Dad today that he got his electricity back after it went out there this last Saturday night (likely due to power lines being blown down by the wind from storms in the area there). He was concerned about having to throw out food that had been in the refrigerator that had shut off due to the power outage and thankfully, won't have to throw out as much now. smiley I'm also thankful that it didn't go out during the terrible heat and humidity in the area that afternoon. smiley

I have a few things I wanna put here today that I'm thankful for! yessmiley

1. Work was again very challenging due to some instrument problems at my workstation. I usually don't have many troubleshooting situations at protein electrophoresis/immunofixation but today it was a little like Murphy's Law because I again had to set aside and repeat some samples that were messed up on the first run. So, I took the necessary troubleshooting steps (using a new box of IFE gels and cleaning the gel carrier and electrode setup more thoroughly to get rid of the salt buildup that was causing interference with the results) and those samples turned out better the second time around! yes

2. I attended a gratitude webinar at work during the first half hour of my lunch break and the idea of the gratitude journal was mentioned in it, as well, so I was discussing doing this gratitude journal on here with my manager and her administrative assistant after the webinar. yes They're glad to hear that I'm doing this! yes

3. I did some small talk on the bus or waiting for buses today after work. I normally don't do this very much as I can be quite shy but once in awhile, I'll take a chance and do it, and I am grateful for doing that today. yessmiley

This one is going to be simple. I'm thankful to be off from work today because I'm feeling tired. I'm going to make sure I get to bed early and get enough sleep because tomorrow is likely to be a busy day, but I'm very thankful to be able to catch up on getting rest today. blush

@AbbyHarris1976

I hope you had rest and you are doing well☺.

Today it was my first semester class here in the university. Finished the 5 days yes+ course as a part of the induction program and that helped me so much as well, filled with fun, mindfullness, interactions and team works. I loved sharing about everything with my friend and family and I just ended up writing so much to them as am so happy haha.

Today was first day, had 5 classes today, those were good. I am grateful today and want to express my gratitude as past months were tough for me but now the though times passed and am happy to have a good time. It's so true that storms come but with help of true and good people in our life things heal by the grace of God.

No matter whatever happens, good times are waiting for us and if they aint then it's not the end. Having good times opens challenges as well to do our work, but having consistency will help.Am happy to have supportive people in my life whom I can speak when I need. And am grateful to the people who left me as they left me so that I can have true good people in my life.

This one will be rather redundant, but that's because it's that important to me. yessmiley I am thankful and grateful for my true and honest friends! They're the ones who I don't have to be afraid to open up to because I trust them enough to encourage me and show compassion so I do not become depressed. Even when problems happen, they're the ones who think back and reflect on how a problem began and all those involved take positive steps to remedy the situation and move forward. yes

I am thankful that my friends here appreciate and care about their friendship with me, and this is something that I will reflect more on as my Cupsiversary approaches next week (A week from today, folks! laughheart). blush
