Abby's Gratitude Journal

I would like to start making my Gratitude Journal right here on 7 Cups. smiley This will be an "open journal", so if anyone wants to read and reply, you can do so. smiley

A dear listener friend of mine here made the suggestion to start a gratitude journal, and I really think it will be a great idea as well. enlightenedyes It is important, especially when times get difficult, to count our blessings and be thankful for what we already have. For example ... I've had to deal with the hurt of having some who I thought would be close friends not only stop talking to me, but lie to me about it and lead me on to believe that they would begin taling to me again. So ... what do I do? I think about the true and genuine friends that I already have and I am thankful for them ... including the one who suggested that I start a gratitude journal. blushheart

So, what am I thankful & grateful for today? Well ... it might not sound like much to be actually thankful for, but it was this morning at work when I had poured off some of the specimen from a primary tube into the wrong short sample cup for a shared specimen setup because I was rushing myself and didn't see that the short sample cup was not positioned next to the correct primary tube. I noticed my mistake relatively soon after, but not before some of the results autofiled ... meaning that I had to find the correct primary tube and then program the accession number it was to be shared with to run the tests for the correct sample, and then call the patient's floor and tell the doctor or nurse that I need to change the result in the cimputer. So ... WHY am I grateful for this when I had made a mistake that I'm not really proud of having made? Because I showed that I was not afraid to own up to it, make myself accountable for it, and do what I needed to do to rectify the mistake. yes

@AbbyHarris1976

That is so nice that you were able to visit Church with your dad. Spending time with our parents is the the best as the relation is guided by unconditional love. I am now staying far from my home as me now in the hostel, I can understand how it's tough to just talk with them just via phone as we can't see them, but one word and one talk with them just makes us so happy😀.

At this time last year, I had just found out about my late best friend Charmaines pancreatic cancer diagnosis and was emotionally reeling from that. I would never forget her words to me when she told me about the diagnosis when I went to visit her in her hospital room during my lunch break at work last year.

This year, I want to remember and be grateful for her friendship as I remember and reflect a year later. ❤️🙂💞

It's hard when we hear those words from a person. I am sorry for the loss, but it's so nice that you got to have a friend like her. May her soul rest in peace and may her soul always guide you. Remember the good memories and have a good day ahead🙏😀

I'm gonna put two things here today. smiley

1. I'm thankful for the Beaumont Hospital staff, doctors, nurses, etc who have all taken care of my father thus far after his surgery. He might not be able to come home tonight or even tomorrow night, but they're all taking good care of him. yes He has been able to take a walk around the area, and even had a priest bring him Holy Communion today as well. blush

2. I am thankful to my friends, however few, who have actually checked in with me lately to ask how things were going in regards to my Dad. I'm also bringing this up because ... last year on this day (July 31st), I tried to confide in who I thought was a good and supportive friend following my (now deceased) best friend Charmaine's cancer diagnosis (RIP Charmaine) and he turned on me and implied I had no business asking him for emotional support and compassion. During THAT time ... I felt totally alone in my grief over Charmaine's condition, but I dumped that friend, who sought only selfish pleasure at the expense of others, in favor of being there for Charmaine. I joined 7 Cups a day later to discuss this grief, and my anxiety and depression that came from it and ... lo and behold, found out that this guy who turned on me is a 7 Cups listener ... and it is certainly not the first time I have been hurt and done wrong by a Listener on here. That being said ... I am more than thankful for those who have cared enough to support me through that difficult time in my life as well as others as I reflect on my 1st year Cupsiversary tomorrow. smiley

When I first joined 7 Cups, I was in a dark place, feeling alone and with no support ... but with all of the kindness and compassion that I found here, I made it out of that dark place. Thank you all! 😊💞❤️

Today, I am gonna put a couple of things ...

1. I am thankful for the opportunity to go have breakfast with my neighbor friends across the street. smiley It is the only opportunity to do this during my vacation here as I will be heading back to Chicago tomorrow. Pecan waffles, here I come! cheekysmiley Or, chocolate chip pancakes, or ... laugh

2. I am thankful for those friends who were so kind to have celebrated my 1st Cupsiversary with me yesterday, and I hope to have many more. blush There are a few that I hoped to have heard from and didn't - but I'm not gonna ruin my days thinking about that now or go chasing after them, either. Not when I have loyal friends that have been so kind and caring toward me here! blushheart

I was thankful that I was able to fall asleep more quickly last night than I usually do before a workday after being off. 🙂 Overall, its more difficult for me to fall asleep quickly during the summer than the winter. Hopefully, Ill have a good nights sleep for the work weekend 😴

Youre welcome, and I really like that Bible passage image - its so true. 😊 True friendships are nourishment for the soul and are what everyone with a true heart and soul seek out in their lives. 🤗💖
