Hello!

I know not everyone out there can be grateful to you for what you do for them.. But I personally love expressing my gratitude.. Bacause I know how much people love to be appreciated for the little things they do for us..

How does being grateful make you feel? :)

Being grateful makes me feel closer to my creator, God himself. This in turn keeps me very humble in knowing that I would have nothing if it weren't for Him.

Fine but a little overwhelmed (?) I don't know... Is like, I try to be grateful sometimes and I kinda do it in my mind but it ends up feeling like a headache

But other days I just wake up so happy and grateful

@heyitsmagda So glad I'm not the only 1. It's been a hard emotion for me to process all my life. My family's Indian & I grew up being taught to give more than I take. My mom expected me to help out at a young age which is fair. I just had a lot going on in terms of special needs & anxiety. She used this proverb I wish I could forget: don't be a burden on Mother Earth. If I could forget any 1 thing in my life it'd be that. It messed me up & was the seed for my years of suicidal thoughts. I never wanted to die but I didn't think I deserved to live. I couldn't see myself being as functional as I am now a couple yrs ago & I thought all I'd ever be was inadequate & the best I could do for everyone around me was stop being a burden on them. Now I see things very differently. I believe our only obligation is to try our best not to hurt others. I still help ppl because I feel for them & it feels good but I don't beat myself up when it doesn't work out. Grateful is still a tricky emotion for me to process & even harder to express, especially to ppl who don't know me super well. I used to feel so down on myself & I had this formula where helping others was positive points & getting helped by others was negative points. I met some lovely inspirational ppl who helped me see things differently. Anyway just because someone doesn't express gratitide doesn't mean what you do doesn't make a world of difference or they don't appreciate it. I went overboard when I 1st started expressing gratitude & got taken advantage of a lot. So whenever I feel grateful it comes w/ this reminder that I'm autistic & anxious & behind my peers & painfully misunderstood in how I process certain emotions. So it's usually bitersweet, but mostly gives me motivation to keep working on myself & not give up. This complexity makes it hard for me to get close to ppl & I don't like relying on any 1 person too much. It's also because I'm an independent free spirit & love to explore & have adventures so it doesn't really make me sad. But when I do feel dependent on someone it's all this drama in my head which can be too much for everyone involved so I need to take it slow. Also I just don't have much experience being around the same ppl for more than a few months. A lot of good has come from how I process things. My anxiety about everyday life makes the fear of actual change not that different so I'm more open to not let fear hold me back in my career. I've hurt a lotta people though by keeping them at a distance. They usually feel better when I explain why though, that I'm trying to be the best friend I can & I don't plan to leave, this is just how I express myself.

Being grateful makes me feel I am closer to the thing. For a person's action, for example, I am living and breathing and appreciating what this person did completely.
