Peer Appreciation Team Huddle #1 - From the Teenie Side of Things

[December 23, 2021 @ 10:00 PM ET]

Questions created by: Fristo

Icebreaker: What is a peer, who all do you consider your peers?

Fristo: for me, everyone i see if my peer, i feel a fellow feeling with them

Nerd: I would consider a peer to be someone who I am affiliated with, either in a team or a community! 😀

Emo: I consider all acquaintances and future acquaintances my peers 😀

Angie: that's a good question😅 I'm not exactly sure how to define it

Xin: I consider everyone here and everyone else who's a decent human a peer (:

interesting question: is a non-decent human your peer?😮

Emo: True, team mates are team mates :0 Whether you like them or not; I would still treat them with the same amount of respect as everyone else gets

Xin: hmm it depends on how not-decent they are i guess! personally, i'm a big believer in second chances but if a non-decent human oversteps my limits and boundaries, i wouldn't consider them as a peer 😛

Fristo: maybe all humans have potential of decency, but their behavior makes us believe otherwise

Nerd: I would say that a non-decent person would be considered my peer, since they are within the team or community that I'm in! I don't look at it depending on their descent or not! 😊

Angie: I would say that a peer is anyone I'm acquainted with, given that there's not too much of an imbalanced power dynamic

Q2: What is important of identifying and appreciating strengths in your peers?

Fristo: it is remarkable how emo is always funny, cheerful, motivating, regardless how they are feeling inside

Xin: identifying and appreciating a peer's strengths gives them the courage to go on however hard life is and lets them know that someone is there for them, as impossible as it seems

Emo: Y’all are amazing because you are all kind, always caring and just jellybeans 😮

Angie: I think it's important to identify people's strengths because it makes them feel seen! And we can always look to others for inspiration

q3: how do you support your peer when they aren't able to believe in themselves?

Emo: Just be there by their side : D

Angie: believe in them even if they don't believe in themselves ❤️

Xin: i guess i would offer them some substantial support and words that come from the heart instead of send a bunch of 'inspiring' text that aren't what i truly want them to know

Fristo: i'd say to them- you matter more, just focus on taking care of yourself for now, rest all will fall in place

Nerd: I would support them by being there and showing that I will support them no matter what! I would also show how much I believe in them! 😊

q4: when do you know you need self-care from your team role?

Emo: When you feel like you need one, not when you desperately have to go on a self care break

Nerd: You would definitely know if you need self-care when you feel that you are not able to work at your highest capacity! 💜

Fristo: when work feels as having-to-work and not as joy

Xin: tbh i never know when i need self-care, i'm the type of person who pushes through and end up burning myself out - not the best influence here lol 😛 but i guess i need self-care when happiness and positivity no longer feels natural or when supporting others becomes a burden to me

Angie: I think I can tell I need self-care by how my body and emotions react? dunno I'm working on it and I think I can also tell I need a break if I start slacking off or if I'm not putting as much effort into the work - plus, the awesome teams here don't deserve half-baked work!

q5: what tips and tricks have you found to ensure you use 7cups in healthy and balanced way?

Xin: to not be here every second of the day and learn to compartmentalize (:

Nerd: I am currently trying to limit my time on cups so that I don't get totally consumed in contributing to the community. It's important to balance that with your offline life, so I'm trying my best to create that balance! 😀

Faith (from the interview series): do more activities off cups, likeable activities, and also take care of school, complete school work as priority

Angie: I guess just recognize when it's interfering with my regular life, and taking time off if needed

q6: what do you like about your current roles on 7cups, especially what do you like about your PAT role?

Angie: I like making people's days as a PAT member; being appreciated is very exciting; and I'm also an LCI host and I like talking with people there!

Nerd: In general, I really love all of the collaboration between team members and all of the support that we give to one another, especially in PAT 😀

Xin: i love seeing how people are spreading positivity through PAT and how I'm helping to make that happen

Faith: I like them cause I can get creative because of them and support and help others and this roles are interesting. Pat role is very amazing as by posting appreciation I can make people smile ❤

q7: what do you do when you have ideas/concerns as a PAT member? Speaking of you, do you have any feedback to share right now?

Angie’s idea: could I write a PAT post on paper and scan it? → Absolutely!

Fristo’s ideas:

- how about we create few graphics about PAT and what it does😮; and we can promote those graphics on 7cups social media too!

- let's make a thread where we will create and post graphics about PAT and what it does😮 all team members could be posting graphics in that thread

Faith’s idea: Can we make a thread for posting ideas for PAT? 😮

Nerd’s idea: We should definitely have them [team huddles] more often! 😀; And maybe we can have different people hosting it each time! 😮; That way we can get some new questions and different perspectives! 😀 → let's make it a monthly thing😀

Woah , looks like y'all had a lovely time with each other ( which is obvious hehe , PAT members are all so fabulous 😈❤ )

I like how the questions have touched upon different aspects, from what is a peer to roles, to self care, to improvements and suggestions !

Anddddd all such wonderful ideas , team ! I am onboard with all of them! Let's do it ! ❤

Specifically for Faith's idea of a separate space for only ideas, would having a separate tab in our dash (other than the QnA tab) work or perhaps the Peer Appreciation Team communication and outreach thread ? Or should we make a new one altogether?

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou

I'm so glad that you liked the questions and the ideas, Sun! Thank you, @Fristo, for creating them for our huddle! 😊

For Faith's idea, I believe they were thinking of creating a separate forum thread designated for sending ideas. However, @SoftFaith2004 can definitely jump in on this one! 💜

PAT Huddle Highlights

July 16, 9 AM ET

Icebreaker: What is a peer, who all do you consider your peers?

Sun: Everyone at 7 cups is a peer. And if we go with the not so recent addition about considering ourselves our peers too, for a self-appreciation. We all are a big peer group lol!😊

Cosmic: Every single light worker here on cups from fellow listeners to mentors, mods, leaders, and other humans with inhuman compassion and care for members ❤️

Fox: I consider everyone who is a listener as my peer 😊 but I learn things from members too!

Fristo: everywhere i see, i see nobody but peer, we are human fellows

interesting question: is a non-decent human your peer?😮

Cosmic: For me, yes. Two types of peers for me: one who you go through journeys with like the ones we have here and the other, the difficult ones aka non-decent humans, they are the lessons we go through in life. Both have significant impact in our essence.

Sun: If noni the bot is then maybe they are too lol 😛 we can just choose what kind of qualities to engage with or imbibe within ourselves.

Fristo: since i wish good for all, and since i understand that being indecent is part of human struggle, i do consider all my peers. i just distance myself though if someone's company isn't good for me.

Q2: What is important of identifying and appreciating strengths in your peers?

Cosmic: One key thing in identifying traits is acknowledging the fact that it doesn't happen instantly. You need to connect and get to know the peer before you can tell their strengths and appreciate them. At least that's how it works for me. Although I can compliment a peer right off the bat on how they converse or how they tackle a problem, it's not the same as a sincere appreciation of someone's strength.

Sun: It's nice to make people know of their amazing qualities, sometimes they aren't aware or can use a reminder. We all can actually. ❤️ andddd when we see good, we might as well try the good thing for ourselves.

Fristo: i love having an eye for good in other, and once i notice it, i love encouraging that good by appreciating them for it

q3: how do you support your peer when they aren't able to believe in themselves?

Sun: Being patient with our peers is one way to support them. No body magically starts believing in themselves or the good side of life, when the experiences prior have made them to think otherwise. Thus, here it helps to avoid the burst of positivity, that can come off as "un-true", and instead to be patient, validating and accommodating for all emotions. On personal front, We then grow at our pace and theirs, and slowly start taking the needed steps towards self-belief. ❤️

Cosmic: First, I'll ask them what made them doubt themselves. That journey would take time because it's usually rooted in trauma and bad experiences. The key is patience. Empathize and send lots of emojis, trust me, those are so powerful! And then, you take note of the times when they accomplished things, even the smallest ones and highlight those for them. They won't believe it at first but I try to reinforce it by reminding them that there were two choices, and they choose to move forward and be strong.

Fristo: I took think patience does wonders! Be patiently compassionate to them, slowly their heart will melt to seeing good in you and eventually in themselves.

Bonus q: what is a part of pat (peer appreciation team)?

Fristo: in a way, everyone who fills appreciation form, or posts it, or shares a word about it in community, is part of pat! and we are together doing a beautiful job in spreading smiles and an appreciation environment<3
