Things I'm Grateful For

I got my first job rejection today... but I believe thinking about the things I am grateful for will help a lot so I wanted to list them down here.

1. Grateful for my family, my mother particularly for being healthy and loving through this time

2. Grateful for my health that even if mentally I may not be in a great place, I can be okay physically.

3. Grateful for my friends that support me and listen to me.

4. Grateful for 7 cups for being a place where I can discuss these things and have comfort in doing so.

5. Grateful for today, although it may have been a bummer there's always time to look for something else.

Hey @sunnyWriting4806 , rejections can be so hard to experience, it makes me so happy to know you are trying to look for the good things in life , acknoledging and expressing gratitude can certainly help us avoid spending much time and thinking on things that didn't go our way or bothering us in anyway ! 😄

And Yay, So much to be grateful for, love your list

Job rejections are painful especially if you think everything went well and are expecting good feedback only to find the other person was not in the same page.

It is more difficult if it was a company you really had your hopes up for and had high dreams or expectations or visions of the possibilities.

I guess try to think of it as a learning experience, what went well? What didn’t go well? Ask you friends and family about what you can improve on. And think of it as launching you into the path you should be on.

@warmheartedPlace887 Thanks for that!

I definitely did feel harsh precisely because of the thoughts that you mentioned. I thought I would be a great fit for the job posting that I was interviewing for especially since they reached out towards me first. It's hard to think that the other person didn't think of the same as I did about them. As a very "don't cry about spilled milk" person, it hasn't affected me too harshly (it was a part-time on top of my college education), however it did make me reflect on a couple of things.

I hear ya.

Also times are strange because of COVID. Everywhere has hiring signs but no one is actually hiring. Try not to take it to personally, understand they might have liked you as a person but they have to look at it from their perspective about what’s best for business.

Keep a positive attitude, forget that interview and forge ahead. You got the next one. Every time you interview you get a little better with practice. You will feel a little more confident about what to expect and practiced interview answers.

Maybe you didn’t get a part time job because there’s some awesome full time job more suitable for you. Just keep looking, you got this.

@warmheartedPlace887 yes! I firmly stick with the saying "Rejection is re-direction". Thank you!

That's a clever way of summarizing that! I think I found my new life quote.

As someone who has been on many interviews and has been the interviewer at times, I can tell you that sometimes employers don’t hire someone because they are TOO good. That is definitely counter-intuitive because you don’t give the perfect candidate the chance, but from their perspective they think you won’t stay and they’ll have to train someone else again. It’s a shame that most places don’t give feedback.

I’m currently interviewing for jobs now but I’m being very picky and going for higher level jobs than I’ve ever had before, so I’m getting rejected a lot, but every week is full of interviews because I’m applying so much. The rejections don’t phase me as they would have before. Now it’s just like ok well…. next! I did have one job that I really wanted and thought I had, and got rejected. But when I took a step back and looked at the interview, I don’t think our personalities would have been a good fit anyway.

Sometimes things happen for a reason. So cool that you are taking a such a healthy approach!

Hey @limeRaspberries3161!

Thank you for sharing this uplifting post a lot speaking from your experience. I totally admire your ability to look past through each rejection and just look back and learn from what you took from it. Hopefully I was too good for this job! haha XD, nevertheless interviews are I another trial of life and it's important to get through them. So as a fellow interviewee to another best of luck for each interview you get! I hope one day you'll find the job that fits you perfectly :)
