I have learned that it is ok to trip up, and that it can be as simple as tripping over

@Kempupkempdown

I like the analogy. :p Even tripping can get us somewhere.

Hi Everyone, I have reached step 180. Something I have been thinking about is the theory of Cognitive Dissonance. For more than 35 years I have been part of a very controlling organization. I have never understood until this time why part of me has been rebellious and it has made me anxious. Understanding the conflicting emotions inside me and the cause has helped me to cope with my feelings and to chart a course of wholeness into the future.

@alonesomeryder

Nice. Being able to look into yourself and figure out where the tangles of emotions is coming from is a really good skill to have. It's awesome to see you figure things out piece by piece, keep it up. :)

Someone (FDR :p) once said the "Only thing we have to fear is fear itself." I thought that was appropriate here. :p Keep on not being afraid to test the unknown. ^^

@JamesDc008 Failure is definitely part of life, even a positive part of life if we learn to accept it! ♥ *hugs* I like to remind myself of a quote by Woodly Allen: "if you're not failing every now and then, it's a sign you're not doing anything very innovative" ♥

Step 30 - I was doing some mindfulness and gratitude journaling before I found 7cups but it really validated that I was indeed taking the right steps forward. I'm learning that there is really no quick fix, but I'll have to take time to work on it everyday. That's hard for someone with black-and-white thinking patterns like me!

@JuniperJuice

Woohoo! Step 30! ♥

I'm really glad that 7cups helped you to continue with that awesome progress you'd already made! Black-and-white thinking can definitely make things like this harder, but the fact that you know it can, shows me that you're likely to be able to do it anyway! ♥ Good luck ♥ (not that you'll need it :P)
