That I need to take time to calm down @GlenM
Step 168. Working on managing emotions. I've learned that there is no shame in wanting something so badly that you get frustrated when it doesn't happen (long story short: I was up for a promotion; my boss wanted me for it and recommended me for it, but her supervisor did not agree and so when my boss told me I didn't get it I cried out of frustration). You just have to learn, adjust, accept, and grow from things.
Have an opened mind
I have learned that music and reading are great escapes from the world.
I just hit Milestone 20.My big takeaways are small--the lightness I feel after a mindfulness exercise, the surprise when I realize from that calm spot that suddenly I can see myself a little more clearly, the realization that I am a very complex thing and that small changes at the right spot make bigger differences. My usual tactic when my mind got off track was to change everything--To move, get a new job, get new friends, find a new lover, become a different person. I favor action over rumination and I strongly believe that when there is a problem, you do something about it. I'm starting to realize that doing something about it can be as simple as slowing down, helping my mind to clear, stepping back. Doing something about it can be simply, observing.
Woooo! 😀👌
This is really helping me be more mindful about everything and how to relax more
Glen I want to thank you for all the wonderful work you do here on 7 Cups. The information you provide is fantastic to those wanting to learn and improve ourselves while helping others.
I also want to thank some amazing people who helped me feel welcome, with my Internship and with me inproving my life by helping others: Twisha, Amelia W, Autum Leigh (Group Mod), MissZ (Peer Support) and Lara (all her helpful forums).
You are all very wonderful people and if only the world were filled with people like you who have empathy and understanding along with a desire to help others, this world would be a joyful place.
Thank you so much for letting me into your family
