I realized that other people are going through this and they also understand what I'm going through and can help me.

Hi guys I'm pretty new to this just hoping to meet some cool people I guess
@Trish2nd Meet me then xP welcome here!
35 day streak, step 90... what have I learned in 5 weeks...
6 weeks ago I blew up on my 16yr old neice over something that should have never been an issue...6 weeks ago, I finally admitted that Bipolar was causing an issue with life...
6 weeks ago I finally admitted that I needed help dealing with it...
16 years of bipolar swings increasing in severity and frequency finally hit a tipping point, went begging to my GP for help.
In the last 5 weeks I've had more meaningful discussions with my GP than the idle chatter of annual physicals the last 11yrs...
Since dropping the facade of being 'normal' my family looks at me different but they're no longer walking on eggshells around me (the first 2 weeks were touch and go), even though they did essentially accuse me of doing this now (during other extented family issues) as a way of getting attention...
In the last 5 weeks there has been a flood of information, meetings, decisions, and acceptance... There are a lot of resources out there now that were not around when this all stared 16yrs ago, and I have learned that even though bipolar is a lifetime disease to deal with it's not a life sentence.
I've made a sizable dent on the journey of a thousand steps towards recovery in the last 5 weeks. I was reminded again this last week (by a case worker, that also suffers from bipolar) that it's been 16yrs so far and it's not going to be suddenly fixed in a year, so minor setbacks are exactly that, minor... take what you can in stride and ride the waves of what you can't. It will eventually get better with work. I'm just waiting to see what comes out the other end of this journey when I hit a place that I can consider myself 'stable' again... it's been 1/2 my life descending to this current state so far. I've had high and low points (oh, have I had low points!) in 16yrs of this, but I'm still kicking.
@Phoenix84 I'm so proud of you, you've come so far and I trust that you will continue to do so. I pray that one day things will get better and you will find such a strong inner peace that you wouldn't have to hurt anymore. God bless x
Finished 10 steps on the growth plan. And now I guess I have to post something. Done.
@LaaLa hahah that's great congoo!
Appreciate yourself for the hard work you do
@IronSkull You deserve it!
Milestone- Step 250! I've learned that sometimes taking the more difficult route pays off in the long run, compared to taking the easier route.

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain." -Vivian Green
@safeandsoundta Indeed and those are great lessons and great quotes too :') You'll make an amazing dancer and may your route be full of joy!
@Istand4peace I agree, those are great quotes to remember! Thank you, I will try my best to create much happiness for myself.
To look for the good in things, even in the worst senarios.
@agreeableOwl3776 That's a great thing!
I learnt that I'm better than I think I am
@Luigi1000 And you're worth it!
I have learned that I don't have to fit other people's labels for me. I don't need them to think that I fit in.
The only label that really matters is the label "me". I'm me. And I can create who that is. I don't have to restrict myself to fit into society's boxes because I have my own which I can shape the way I like.
I can make my own decisions and carry my box wherever I want it to be.
This is my life.
@scolerina Yes indeeed that's such a great and helpful lesson!
