Step 50 I feel better than I did when I started this but it is still hard to cope on a day to day basis
@GlenM There are things that are simply out of out control. Nobody is perfect so it is OK to fail/make a fool out of yourself/fall sometimes. It is human.
I'm on my seventieth step and I'd like to share something I've learned. I learned to validate others emotions to decrease intense arguments.
When I see my children I'm going to be the best dad ever
On one of the steps in these 50, it gave me a diagram. What I can control and what I can't. I learnt it's important to know your limits and know to not obsess over getting things right when you don't have control over it.
70 Steps. I learned that everything sorts itself out, sometimes you just need a little help from your friends.
Step 230 - I learned that I live in the past too much, I didn't realize how hard it is for me to let go
I've finally realized in the last few days the full extent of my self neglect. I never have any fun or try to use my free time in ways that I respect. I have not taken myself and my happiness and productivity seriously. I spent years shying away from relationships, friendships, good health, hard work, and fun because I was secretly afraid of being percieved as weak when asking for help.
I've been reaching out recently and the support I've recieved on here and from the people in my life has been surprising to say the least. I feel like such a fool for letting things get this bad, shying away from help, and allowing myself to feel so undeserving of human compassion. I broke down over the holidays and will be seeing a doctor for the first time in years tomorrow. I'm not in the greatest health, and I'm afraid of what I might be told, but I refuse to treat myself so terribly, to deny my own life in the face of fear.
@Plums1, in some ways you are healthier than you were before this observation.
We care so much, we often forget to care for ourselves (One of my millions of issues as well). Only by going through this many, many times do we figure it out. It takes time to determine that we are so beautiful to do this. The next work is for us to care for ourselves, too. Without self-care, we run out of gas, our tires get old, and our lives and selves are unmaintained. In order to face the next steps, this lesson confirms you have the gas and drive to keep your self going at this level of love, devotion, and connectedness.
Good going - it doesn't feel fun, but is such an important step. In the end, the love you give to the world is equal to the love you give yourself...
Step 360. I am reminded of an old religious teacher - "a tree does not focus on fruit; it focuses on roots. People admire fruit, but don't admire roots." I gotta have great, healthy roots, and the fruit is an outcome of that work.
I am root.
@thoughtfulTriangle4746 This was very beautiful and eye-opening. Thank you so much for sharing it.

My mind is sad always thinking the same things
