More a reconfirmation than a learning: I learned that if I don't take care of my emotional and mental well-being, no one will do it for me.

I learned that what I'm feeling is valid and I shouldn't feel bad about my emotions.

I am learning that I don't have to do things to make everyone happy and I should sometimes put myself first. I am learning that not everyone will like me no matter what I do. I am learning to let go of negativity and people who make me feel bad about myself.

I learned that I know how to deal with my substance abuse and know the effective advice I would give to a friend in the same position. I'm somehow just not applying it to myself. Maybe it's because I feel like I can still handle things and keep a job and good relationships. Even though I know I'm hurting my loved ones and myself just be keeping on using. I have to keep myself motivated and on track, keep talking to myself like I would a friend in the same position. I should look back and remember I'm a better functioning person whe I'm off the drug than when I'm on it, even if I haven't hit "rock bottom" just yet. Better to turn things around right now than to wait for that moment where everything collapses completely.
