@GlenM I've learnt that I'm not the only person going through what I'm going through and that everything will get better as time goes along
When I was a very young teen, I was once told by an older woman that "life was nothing but pain." I thought her to be a fool... Back then... But now as I am aging I am finding myself to be the fool, for not heeding that bit of wisdom.. That being said, I have learned that I can never know what another person is experiencing.. So lesson learned is... Never judge another person, because you never know what they may be going through!
I've learned that I might not be good at something at first, but if I keep on going, I will absolutely make progress, no matter how small it is.
@immaddie thing about progress... is congress..... It can be positive.... Or negative..........?
Reach out to others. It's a curious thing, but when I help bear the pain of others, it helps me deal with my own pain better.
I've learned that many people don't understand OCD very well. And that makes it feel like you can't get help from the people who care about you, and that can make it feel like no one cares.
I made it to step 60!
I've made it to step 20!
Worry has no benefit.
I'm learning little by little to advocate for myself and that's pretty damn scary! I come from an abusive family where I got put into the scapegoat role and then married into another one where the same dynamic went on. One thing I've learned in general about people and relationships is that if someone has to say what they are rather than just be, be cautious. Too many times people professed how "normal" or "good people" they were and ended up being highly abusive and rather disturbed, unwilling to ever heal themselves or seek true help.
The snow goose need not bathe to make itself white. Neither need you do anything but be yourself. - Lao Tzu
Learning to simply let myself be in a natural state of "me" has also been a challenge. Since there are people arrogant enough to tell you how you are and how you think- it's funny....but our natural actions differ, huh? For me anyway. Probably for a lot of others. So simply letting yourself "be" yourself is also advocating for yourself.
I've learned how nice it is to rant and have people care, and have people rant and you can care and help them, become friends and sometimes maybe even more. This site has proven to be truly amazing.
