I've just reached Step #20. Since I got a listener account, I've learned that helping others really does help me. It doesn't trigger me; in fact, it's helped me stay clean for the past 2 days. I hope it will in the future, too!

@bestPond7178 Yay, I'm glad being a listener helped you and congratulations on staying clean :D

I recently had a real world example that i found helpful. I often have difficulty when it comes to interacting with people. I have been trying to sell a few of my items that have been just sitting around my house, and are not getting used. After a couple of weeks, I had no offers on the items I was selling, and I was discouraged. A few nights I had almost decided to take down my ads. I let those feelings pass, and gave it another shot. In the third week, I had many offers, and sold both of the items I was trying to sell. I was able to negotiate (albeit over text message), and managed to agree on a price that was fairly close to what I was looking for. I also stood my ground when I got offers that I thought were low.

It just goes to show that success looks a lot like failure at first, but the only time you really fail is when you give up.

I am reminded of one of my mantras - nothing beats 'consistency and persistency'; we improve each day by working a little toward our goal; sometimes there are spurts but most times we just need to work diligently each day to reach greatness ulmitately.

I finally really realized that holding onto the anger that I have for the doctor that caused most of my problems doesn't hurt him, it hurts me. As hard as it is/was I learned to let it go. When it flares up with the pain, I listen to the breathing exercises on here until it goes away.

#60. I've been creating a new bedtime routine this week, and have learned doing a simple short mindfulness meditation before bed is really good. It brings out what's going on for me, and is relaxing.
