⚘ Going the extra mile ⚘

Uniquely and extraordinarily created, we are different from one another. Our experiences and the life that we live can set us apart from one another, but how do we come together and connect in order to embrace the fact that we, together, make up the presence of humanity? How can we find little pieces of ourselves in each other, so as to feel like we belong, feel understood, accepted and loved? How can we appreciate others for who they are as individuals? What is that feeling that allows us to look at someone and have the overwhelming urge to make sure you go above and beyond, to be there for them through their endeavour and hardships, because they are well deserving of such love?

⋯ ❤ ⋯

All of these questions can be answered by one word and that is Compassion. Compassion is the key to accepting and embracing one another, without feeling intolerant or indifferent. Everyone seeks it and everyone deserves it. It’s a fast paced world we live in, among the shards of competence and survival responsibilities. It seems much easier to observe and sparingly encourage others to take a step and make a difference in their own lives. While that is a strengthening (and important) thing to do, sometimes we leave behind the ability to go the extra mile and say “Your pain is my pain”. For after all, we go through this together right? Sympathising is not enough sometimes. Action is needed. But that’s why Compassion requires Courage. It may seem like their issues are not yours, but ask yourself if you would be willing to go the extra mile.

⋯ ❤ ⋯

The wonderful thing about this is that every single person has the ability to be compassionate. Since Compassion stems from a part of us that sees others pain and empathises with them, we can all take action and sincerely be there for others when we know that they are in need of help. Of course, it is not expected of us to make the utmost difference and be as courageous as one could ever be. You could show compassion and exercise your skill in little ways. Little steps take you further than long strides would; with time, patience and most of all…eagerness.

⋯ ❤ ⋯

The take away from this is that, whenever you feel the need to help or be there for someone, do not hesitate to go the extra mile. It surely is rewarding!

@DaisyDaph

As always your post is absolutely amazing, Daisy! I like how all of your posts seem so personal. They have a certain relaxing feel to them, when I read your words, I feel at ease and just want to completely take up what you mean.

-> How would you show compassion towards someone?

I will show compassion by being there for them and try to make them know that even if I don't understand, I will be there to support them. I believe that I need that compassion most for myself at the moment, so I think I will just try to be more understanding and maximise the little things that I have been doing.

-> What can you do to remind yourself to be compassionate in the walks of everyday life?

Everyone is hurt in some way or the other. We are all hiding a deeper story. We never know when someone is having a bad day, recently got some bad news so always giving people the benefit of doubt and making sure you are understanding and compassionate towards them could mean much more than we would think!

Thank you for this post!

@lumieremilkyway

Hello lumiere!

Your words are honestly the kindest! I am delighted to hear that this post made you feel at ease heart

You deserve all the love and compassion and I hope you receive them. It's beautiful how you said that you would try to be more understanding and mazimise the little things that you have been doing in order to see more compassion flowing into your life. I wholeheartedly believe that you will see it flowing in abundance because of how good and hard-working you are.

That was an eye-opening reminder you mentioned lumie. I definitely resonate that everyone hides a story that goes deeper than the surface of what we see; that it can go a long way to give poeple the benefit of the doubt and continue to be ever compassionate and understand towards them. Thank you for taking the time to read through this post. Take care of yourself heart

We will show compassion to others in every way we can with what they need and want. We will listen , have empathy with them, we will care about what all they have been through and are now going through, we will try to figure out ways of giving them advice and ways of us pitching in to help them. But if we figure out that it's best for them to learn to do this more on their own because that will best help them, we will encourage them, help them to feel good and motivated to help themselves. We need to remind us all that not everyone is totally capable of taking care of themselves and that everyone needs to consider each person's specific needs and abilities.

@Amelia2324

Hello Amelia! ❤

I love how you mentioned that not everyone is totally capable of taking care of themselves and that we need to consider each other's specific needs and abilities. That is very considerate. I completely agree with what you said about knowing how we can be more compassionate towards one another effectively, as well as what we can do when we can tell that one needs to learn to do things more independently.

Like you said, listening and actively caring about what they have been through and what they are going through now is a great way to show compassion; especially when we are able to go the extra mile and pitch in. Encouraging words are also a great way of showing compassion! Thank you for sharing your lovely thoughts with us Amelia!
