Hope you are all doing great!!
Compassion and empathy are words that can warm up our hearts and are the genuine emotions we experience. They are not forced and come naturally.
Its so human to imagine what it’s like to be the other person. What we are as human beings are definitely not robots.
It’s ok for us to express, think and feel as we would to understand another person.
Concerning compassion and empathy I would ask:
Why are some people more compassionate than others?
Is compassion conditional?
What colour would one associate with compassion?
What’s the best example of compassion and empathy?
How do other cultures perceive empathy and compassion?
What questions would you ask about compassion and empathy? What interests you about these concepts ? :)
Why are some people more compassionate than others?
I think it depends on how much a heart has been emotionally trained. Some people have learned to turn their thorns into roses - turned their past pain into a heart felt mission to help others avoid the same pain. Maybe it's even in the genes. Science has come out and said that maybe more is handed down than we realize. And some have had a good life all along but has the heart to see true suffering and makes it their mission to do what they can to help.
Is compassion conditional?
In my opinion it depends on the situation, and the people involved. For loved ones, of course compassion is unconditional. For strangers, that's another story.
What colour would one associate with compassion?
My favorite color is blue... I like many different shades of blue. I'd have to say for a compassion color, I'd look to the sky, a loyal sky blue we all see when the clouds allow. The blue sky is something we can all depend on. For some people, those with severe disabilities, they have to depend on the compassion of others in order to live. So I look to that dependable BLUE for my answer here. ☺️
What’s the best example of compassion and empathy?
Parents, and/or other caregivers who give loving care to those I've already mentioned. Kids who don't throw their parents into a nursing home and ignore them when they get old. Those who care for their elderly relatives and give them a dignified ending to their life.
How do other cultures perceive empathy and compassion?
I don't know a lot about other cultures, but I am aware of the deep respect Native Americans give to their elderly.

I wonder if compassion and empathy for the disabled will hold out in this turbulent world we live in. I hope and pray current supports continue to be available. I would be interested in reading other posts about compassion from other cultures. I'm willing to learn. 😊

They learn to be more compassionate

Sone cultures think it's very great to be compassionate. But some cultures think people will take advantage of you if you do that.
