Announcement: Community Birthday Project
Hello, community,
I am excited to re-introduce the Community Birthday Project and this time with new improvements!
What’s new in this project?
- It is focused on celebrating the birthdays of both members and listeners. So, if you are a listener or a member, and your birthday is coming up and you would like to celebrate with the community, please do join us.
- Organize and host two birthday parties for both adult and teen sides at the start and end of the month to include all in the celebration.
- Easy access to the birthday calendar to see whose birthday is coming up and everyone can share some birthday wishes or shoutouts for them through a short form (Click here)
- We will need help! If interested in helping carry out these activities, join the Birthday Celebration Team (Click here for the application form)

While this sounds like a cute idea, I'm concerned about the privacy and security of people giving out their exact birth date. If it's to celebrate someone's birthday then you don't need the year.
Forgive me sounding possibly paranoid here, but coming from data security awareness this is a terrible idea. It's also how hackers glean information about their targets: asking personal questions under the guise of some sort of forum or community game to data mine.
Not to say 7 Cups has ill-intentions or is actually doing this. But I think it's important to make other users aware of things like this, and I do want to know why you need the exact birth date?
