Looking Back and Laughing
So this is a recent thing that happened that kind of falls into this category. I struggle with my self esteem and having a positive self image. It hindered my relationships with guys (I'm a cis female) because I felt unattractive.
One guy I've had a more intimate but not committed relationship with had a habit of taking off my glasses during intimacy. I wore glasses almost all my life and I thought that I looked better with them And felt self conscious without them. I didn't want to tell him that it made me self conscious because he wasn't saying anything malicious or teasing me, but my mind was starting to make warped assumptions and it would've been an issue eventually.
Anyway I thought recently about bringing it up when I knew how I wanted to ask before it happened again. Without having any idea of what I'd been thinking, he mentioned that he liked taking my glasses off because he really liked my eyes and said I had a very pretty face. He was big on eye contact so it made sense. I felt instantly relieved that none of my crazy ideas and theories were unfounded!
I told him about my weird logic last night and we both had a great laugh about it! It felt good to know that I am attractive as I am and I can feel better about not having my glasses on. I hope this riveting story reaches someone with the same problems and you can look back and laugh about it like I have.
