An Aha moment is one of "moment of sudden realization, inspiration, insight, recognition, or comprehension." Made popular by Oprah Winfrey.

As we grow here together & with our listeners, we all will hopefully experience an Aha moment! Lets share your aha moments in this forum post!

How did it come to you? What did you learn? What does it feel like to have an aha moment?

It is so rewarding to hear those words, "huh, I never really thought of it that way". It's a sign that the lightbulb has gone off in someone's head that things are different from the negative viewpoint that person has been seeing things from.

So one late night in the recent past, I found myself in the cross hairs of really bad depression... Sometimes I try to describe what I feel in words as a way to help tell people what I mean (hand gestures and facial expressions don't quite cut it I guess?? lol) and when I tried doing putting things down in words, I could only describe what I felt as a storm. Now in trying to be all TOP and stuff making feelings and problems into hit songs, I ending up for some unknown reason relating the storm to flowers. Then, it hit me.

Flowers, they are beautiful, but with out rain and the ocaisional ugly storm, they cannot grow.

My recent Aha moment was when I found out the feeling of loneliness in my life. It's like to be absolutely free, and at the same time - bored and anxious. Silent and bright feeling, I liked it.

Practicing smells like teen spirit on bass guitar and accidentally hit a wrong note. I realized it sounded like another song and I figured out the bass line by ear

I'd say my "aha moment" would've been in December of this past year when I went to Guanajuato, Mexico. I've been in the same state in the USA for 30 years w/o hardly traveling far. When I went to this city in Guanajuato, I saw many different things and it was an entire different way of living, entire different atmosphere (I'm from Wisconsin, so I'm used to snow in December, not 80 degree weather!), and the people were very different. Part of me was anxious b/c I am afraid of heights and there are many hills and mountains, but I learned to adapt to it. Then, the best part of my trip was seeing these people who, regardless of their income, material wealth, or status, were just happy to be w/family having some food, conversation, and maybe some beers. lol I don't see that often in the USA. So, my goal now is to learn Spanish! :)

My "Aha moment" was when I realized that there's nothing wrong with me, but there's something wrong with society. :) it helps. Now I have other problems, but still.

My aha moment came during one of my councilling sessions. I have very bad anxiety around people, my family and my partner about rejection. To the point where I was unable to be myself or enjoy my relationships and I often blamed myself for not being more like this or that.

My aha moment was when my therapist explained to my anxiety was not because of that relationships, but because of my father abandoning me as a child, and that it had manifested into this fear of abandonment from everyone.

Being told it was not my fault for these feelings because of my dad made everything ao clear.
