What I've learned so far..

I'm on step 20 of my growth path, and while I'm still struggling with my anxiety and hypochondria, I'm learning to do the things I love without worrying, if only for short periods of time. I've taken up yoga, because it makes me feel so good about myself at the end of each routine, and that's exactly what I need. I also socialised with my friends for the first time in weeks on Tuesday.

I've also tried to stop avoiding places where my anxiety is worse, like uni and restaurants. It's still so difficult to be calm when I'm sitting on the train or in a lecture, but I try to focus on my breathing.

I'm going to another doctor tomorrow because I chickened out of going a few weeks ago. I've written a list for her to read, as I get upset talking about my anxiety. Any other tips as to what I should do to prepare for my appointment would be great though!

I'm on step 20 and things are starting to take shape now. I found out it really helps me to focus on my breathing when I panic, or when my anxiety gets bad, the meditations help me with that.

I still have a really hard time thinking of things I did wel, but I'm trying to say to myself that it doesn't matter how small it is, that it can never be too small to be a good thing.

Breathing through panic attacks, don't let others words bring you down. Positive thinking. Being by yourself doesn't mean your alone.

Although I am a listener and have been since the end of September 2015, I have found so much on this site to be very rewarding. As I look for information to help the many members I have come in contact with, I find myself educating myself and learning new ways to help myself. I have been told by my grown chilldren that I have become more understanding and patient. That is truly a compliment because for all of my life I would talk and not listen, give unwarranted advice and become frustrated and mood when it was not taken. What I have really learned is the value of what it means to be a conscious listener, to hold back criticism and advice and to instead speak when spoken to and brainstorm ideas for solutions together instead of telling someone what to do. If they find their own solution they not only feel better but are more likely to do it. This has been life changing knowledge for me that I have been able to use in my everyday life.

Thank you 7 Cups :-)
