Easing Expectations - Enhancing Happiness

Every dawn, an old man placed a sugar cube on the windowsill for the butterflies. One day, his granddaughter asked, “Why do you do it if they never come?” . He smiled and replied, “I don’t do it because they will come. I do it in case they do.”
Then one morning, after many quiet days, the window was full of wings — yellow, blue, and white — flickering like soft light. Neither the old man nor his granddaughter said a word.
They simply watched, smiling, quietly filled with joy. After a while, he gently told her, “See, dear. We did not expect them today, and yet we were always ready.”
This simple moment reveals something deeply meaningful. Releasing expectations does not mean giving up. It means offering your care, your presence, and your hope without demanding a return. When we stop waiting for life to unfold exactly as we imagined, we begin to receive it with more grace. Like butterflies, some joys arrive only when there is space, stillness, and no pressure for them to land.
