Gentle Holiday Reminders 🎄
Hello everyone 🌟
As the festive season approaches, I wanted to take a moment to share some important reminders. This time of year is often accompanied by social pressures and expectations, but it's crucial to remember that it's okay to navigate this season in a way that truly aligns with your well-being 🎄✨
🎁 The Gift of Presence, Not Presents: It's totally okay to choose not to exchange gifts, to exchange small handmade or second-hand gifts. Gifts can be costly, stressful, hard to find, or unnecessary. The value of sharing a moment together far outweighs material possessions.
🎉 To Celebrate or Not, Your Choice Matters: Whether you decide to celebrate Christmas or not, the choice is yours. Listen to your heart and do what's best for you. If you find joy in the festivities, embrace them wholeheartedly; if not, give yourself the freedom not to celebrate or to celebrate differently.
🔄 Breaking Away from Traditions: Traditions are beautiful, but forging your own path is equally valid. You can choose not to adhere to traditions to be in line with what makes you comfortable, or even create your own traditions!
👋 Declining Invitations: Politely declining invitations to events or gatherings is an act of self-care. It's important to select activities that respect your comfort and capabilities.
🍲 Dietary Choices: Your plate, your rules. No one should pressure you to eat or drink something you don't desire, nor comment on your diet. You have the right to politely decline anything you don't want. It's essential to prioritize your well-being and health.
😔 Feeling Sad or Nostalgic: If you feel sad or nostalgic during this season, your emotions are valid. Don't hesitate to reach out to a listener and/or your loved ones, share your feelings with them, and ask for support. The best gift you can give yourself is often the freedom to express your true emotions.
❤️ Missing Loved Ones: Holidays can be a painful time when we miss people who are no longer with us. You have the right to feel a range of emotions. Allow yourself to grieve, and if you feel the need, honour the memory of those who are no longer with us physically but will always be in our hearts.
Let's remember that we have different needs and capacities: the essence of the holidays should be in compassion. Take care of yourself and others, and I wish you a holiday season full of peace, joy, and the freedom to be yourself 🌈
