Best Advice You Gave Or Received?
Some questions!
- What is the best piece of advice someone has ever given you? How has it helped you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
- What is the best advice you think you ever gave to someone? Have you ever passed on the best advice you got given to someone else?
I am an artist, with degrees in engineering. I was never happy doing engineering. It was a job not a career.
I had one boss who loved engineering. He was a great guy. And wise.
"Pick a career where you would pay them to go to work everyday."
"If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life."

I left engineering and started my graphic design career by driving a Mac for a printing company.
Do let anyone TELL YOU who YOU ARE.

*dont. Oops 🙊
My husband is really great when it comes to motivating me and other people. Ironically, he's suffering from anxiety.
I tried to not let him know that I was getting jealous of his friend who's a girl btw, but he just knows me too well not to notice that there was something wrong. I would have major mood swings directed towards him and we'd just end up fighting and I would tell him a different reason. Again, he knows that I'm lying. After a few days, he just help my hand and said: "You don't have to hide anything from me. I will understand you, just tell me the truth why you're being like this. You won't feel better if you just hide your feelings like this. I'm your husband and I will always understand you." After that I told him the truth, we laughed about it because this is the first time in almost a decade of our relationship that I got jealous with a friend of his, and I felt better. I've always had a problem with expressing myself which makes me feel terrible. From now on, I'll try to be more vocal with my feelings. Thanks to my amazing hubby.
Sorry for the long, boring story.
And I think I haven't given any great advices yet in my entire life. I'll try work on that part.
@mommyapple
Its a really interesting story! Not boring at all, and I love what your husband said! Holding in our feelings dont help us much at all, and can make the situation or us feel worse in the end. It can be hard being more vocal, but I believe in you!
Im sure youve said some things to people which really had a positive impact on them, but you didnt think it did :) ❤️
One day it just clicks. You realize whats important and what isnt. You learn to care less about what others think of you and more about what you think of yourself. You realize how far youve come and you remember when you thought things were such a mess that youd never recover. And you smile. You smile because you are truely proud of yourself and the person youve fought to become.
@Adventurousdaisy
Aww, that is truly an amazing feeling, to feel so proud of yourself and who youve become. The journey it took to get you to where it is, and the journey ahead. But knowing that youre proud of yourself- what a beautiful feeling. Also, very beautifully written! Thanks for sharing with us all :) xx
Received. Well, if it's happened it's for a reason.
Then I try and get over whatever is bothering me, or maybe feel bad about it.
I don't even know anymore.
@Meliza1234
Thats true- theres a reason for everything, though it may not always be obvious to us presently. What I always like to add to that quote is Theres a silver lining in every situation. Theres a lesson to be learnt in everything thats ever happened to us, and its built us to be who we are today, right in this very second.
It can be difficult to change our mindset, but I find it helps me in knowing theres a reason and theres a positive in everything bad that happens to us :) xx
A friend with whom I had a complicated relationship told me:
"Mind your own business. Which includes, not taking things personally. If you force yourself to be a part of something that shouldn't concern you, it is going to end up hurting you.
In order to stop feeling like a victim, you need to stop putting yourself in situations that you know will hurt you."
Once I understood what she really meant, I finally stopped hurting myself.
@insiya this is really a very good advice... which I really need to follow... but somehow I end up forgetting it and hurting myself.., feeling worthless... 😔
@ambitiousWest9308 sometimes it's important for us to distance ourselves from something we know deep down is no good for us. It could be a person, a feeling or a thing, but letting it go is one of the most valuable lessons in life.
Once you know how to let go, you learn how to not look back. And once you have learned both, you will find yourself at so much peace.
That's when the true healing process begins :)
@insiya thank you for this amazing advice..!! I am definitely going to give it a try.. should work out fine.!
thanks again.!
@ambitiousWest9308 I'm glad you found it helpful. I wish you peaceful days ahead! ❤️
