Ponder Through!
Hey! I am Spring. I am a part of the forum team here. I thought, why don't we kick things off with a little Q and A.
1. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? Is it because we aren't motivated enough?
2. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
Think about me. We are questioning how far are we motivated.
Stay healthy and lovely!
I think people are afraid to make mistakes because they don't want to jeopardize looking good and some mistakes, though we learn from them, can be very painful lessons to learn so we try to avoid that pain.
I am personally for the first time in years living my life worth living. I am so close to finishing school, I am starting a new job in the mental health field, and I am dating the person I want to be dating. For once I'm not sitting here settling for mediocre.
1. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? Is it because we aren't motivated enough?
Personally I suffer from a ridiculous level of fear of others seeing me fail at almost anything, and I don't know where it stems from or how exactly it relates to motivation.
2. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
That's funny, in at least some areas I am not doing anything because my idealistic wish to do what I believe in is clashing with the need to do something, and since it's likely that I'll settle for the one I choose, even if it makes me miserable, the whole situation has become stuck once again.
Thanks for the tag, Spring!

Young children aren't afraid to make mistakes. I think we learn to fear making mistakes for different reasons. It could be because we fear the long term results that we may not be able to change. We may fear criticism or ridicule. We may have been taught that mistakes are weaknesses or deficits. Maybe we see mistakes as confirmations that we're not enough in some way. But it's certainly something we've been taught.
2. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
Sometimes I do what I believe in, sometimes I settle. Sometimes I start by doing something I believe in only to find that I'm not able to do it the way I believe in it because of rules and regulations (I'm thinking particularly of some of the jobs I've had). Sometimes I've just been so depressed, so tired of fighting, so convinced that I have to please others or do "what's expected" that I settle. Sometimes having a too compliant personality doesn't serve your best interest.
But if it's not as much about me and more about someone I love, I will fight hard. Not so sure I'm making sense. But what it boils down to is what I stated in the first sentence...sometimes yes and sometimes no.
Thanks for tagging me
I am doing work here and at the Trevor Project, and it feels so good helping people.

I think what we are most afraid of is making mistakes that will change things for the worse, like bringing about the loss of someone, causing us pain, etc. something irreversible that would end up in a regret. Mistakes are a great way to grow and learn as long as they're not too big or definitive.
2. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
I believe that human perception and experience is the most valuable thing as far as we are concerned. I'm working towards my dream of becoming a psychiatrist. Not easy but I'm not settling for anything less. Small steps.
