3 in 6 months
So I’ve lost three family members in six months and the last one was my dog for 10 years. I’ve taken it the hardest. My dog was my bestest friend and grief has been hitting me out of no where. I go days where I feel okay but then days like today hit and I cry and cry and just miss him so much. I don’t know how to deal with the loss any longer. It’s just so hard.

That sounds incredibly difficult, and I’m so sorry you’ve had to endure so much loss in such a short time. Losing three family members, and then your dog—your closest companion for a decade—must feel like a wave that keeps coming when you least expect it. Grief doesn’t always follow a clear path, and it makes complete sense that it’s hitting you out of nowhere, especially after experiencing so much back to back. ❤️
It’s okay to cry and to miss him deeply. It sounds like he was more than just a pet—he was your best friend, your comfort, and a constant presence in your life. That kind of loss is huge, and there’s no right or wrong way to grieve. Would it help to talk about him—what he was like, the little things he did that made you laugh or feel comforted? Sometimes sharing memories, even the smallest ones, can bring warmth alongside the sadness.
You’re not alone in this, and I’m here to listen. ❤️
I lost my older sister to pancreatic cancer in September and my youngest son to suicide in April. I had a slight meltdown last week for the first time. I’ve just been walking the path of grief like a zombie because I have had to try and pickup the role of “father” to my 13 year old grandson. I’m 70 and doing pretty good most days, but I miss my big sister and my sweet son terribly.
I have a great group of ladies who cover me in prayer and I know God is carrying me most days when I have trouble just standing.
I’m sorry for your loss! I love my animals often more than most people, and losing one is often worse than losing an old human friend. Our pets love us unconditionally—our friends not so much.
Cry for your dog. He loved you as much as you loved him and he was your baby boy. Cherish the memories.
