I lost my dog 3 weeks ago, I'm lost. Some will say he was only a dog but I'm so lonely now. He knew when I needed him and I knew when he needed me. 16 years is a long time to then him pass. It's all to much

I used to have budgies as pets for 8 years straight. I can understand how you feel about this as I lost one of the oldest budgies alongside a very close to my heart one who I almost treated like my own child. Although for me 2 years have passed and I am starting to adapt to the loneliness that looms but if I could give one advice to you who has lost your dear dog not long ago, it would be that I am extremely sorry. There are words not enough to describe the loss of a close one however there's no need to feel lonely, although harsh that everyone dies one day including the loved ones there's not much we can do and only hope that whatever memories we have of them, happy, sad, regretful or what not to remain within us, those that remain outside to be treasured and kept safe. And instead of being hopelessly sad for their absence, be happy that they came to you and you spent such quality time together :)

@humorousTalker7690 a dog becomes part of your family, especially when you share so much time together. You've given each other 16 years of love and joy. With you, your dog had the best life he could have. I know it won't make the grief less heavy, but it's a comforting thought. Give yourself time, it's ok to feel so hurt, it only means your love was great. You'll find that light again, one day, which is what your pup would have wanted for you.

@humorousTalker7690 I'm so sorry for your loss. I know all too well the loss of our furry friends. You're right, this wasn't just a dog. This was your friend, a member of your family. 16 years is a long time but gosh that time passes by so quickly. 😞

Allow yourself to grieve his passing. Don't let anyone tell you differently. Be patient with your grief because everyone grieves differently. It's been almost 2 years since I lost my last furry friend and I still miss her like crazy.
