Hey @countrygirl9988, thank you so much for sharing this. I can hear how heavy this grief has been for you, and I'm sorry you are going through something so painful.

Losing a parent is life-changing and the way you describe everything, it makes complete sense that it still feels unreal, even after three years. Grief doesn't have a timeline and anniversaries can bring everything right back up.

I can hear by your post just how many mixed emotions you are carrying (the sadness, anger, the jealousy and longing). These are all totally valid. When someone we love is suddenly gone, especially in such a traumatic way, it leaves a mark that doesn't just fade. The memories you shared, seeing him in the hospital, saying goodbye, the funeral and visiting him in the cemetery, are incredibly hard moments and it makes sense that they stay with you.

I lost my mum last October, and I definitely relate to that 'dream-like' feeling you mentioned. Sometimes it still doesn't feel real, and I also get that jealousy when I see people with their parents. It's such as conflicting feeling, being happy for them but hurting for yourself at the same time. So much of what you wrote really resonated with me.

Your message to your dad is so full of love. It's clear how much he meant to you, and how deeply you miss him. You're not alone in this, and please do share as much as you need and want to here.

If you'd like to, I'd love to hear more about who your dad was as a person and your favourite memory together💜

@countrygirl9988 Of course💜 Your dad sounds like such a wonderful person. The way you describe him as being hardworking, funny, thoughtful, kind and loving really shows how much of a big presence he had in your life. A heart of gold is such a beautiful way to remember him, and it's clear how deeply he cared for you and everyone around him.

Those memories are so full of love, I'm sure he bought a lot of joy into your life and it makes complete sense that you miss him every single day.

I can hear how proud you are to carry his legacy and memories forward. The love you have for him comes through so strongly in everything you write, and it’s clear he meant the world to you. Grief like this is so hard, especially when the memories are so vivid and meaningful, but you’re keeping him close in such a beautiful way.

If you'd like to share more about him, or any other memories that mean a lot to you, we're here to listen 💜
