Lost light

Today, I lost a friend.

It's a miracle he lived as long as he did, and a tragedy he died young. He was savagely beaten in his earlier years and had a lot of problems because of that. He would have seizures that medication couldn't seem to control. He had an addiction to heroin for a time which he actually overcame. He did have other issues with substances but he was aware and wanted to change. He was making so much progress. We clicked pretty quickly, and together we saw light in the darkness despite having no clear reason to. We were just happy, drifting souls, and now he is gone.

I believe the soul is immortal. I believe he is somewhere now, knowing the reason for everything. He deserves that.

We shared a name. I don't know what that means, but I feel it is significant.

I'm not sure he ever realised how much I appreciate him. He was an inspiration, a testament to the indomitable will of the human spirit.

Please remember to let those you love know how you feel. Do it with honesty and passion, for you never know when the randomness of time will take away your option.

@cyanessence your words are honest, poignant and beautiful. I'm sorry you lost a friend. I'm sorry he suffered as he did. I hope that he is now at peace, the peace he had been craving for. I hope he can hear your thoughts and read your words, and knows, atleast he had a friend in you 💜

@Amanda84

Thanks Amanda. It made me lean into my weak faith. I don't know if I'll ever not be agnostic, but in being this way I can freely explore spirituality. Christianity is what I'm most familiar with so that's kind of my default... so I like to believe he is with God now.

@cyanessence all spirituality asks, is that we are open to it

@cyanessence awww I'm so sorry you lost your friend😥 he was very lucky to have you support him and he part of his life 💖 I believe he is in heaven now and no longer in pain 💖 we all have a reason and I'm sure he understands his now 💖 it's so sad that we only realise we need to tell people we love and appreciate them often, until we loose them🙁 but it's not to late you can still talk to him I believe our loved ones can still hear us 💖 I'm not sure if your beliefs but I hope you find comfort in the fact he's in peace now away from all suffering💖 hugs you tightly 💖 I'm right here for you 💗

@Tinywhisper11

Thanks tiny. The whole experience made me lean on my weak faith. I kind of started exploring spirituality philosophically to see if it was based on distorted thinking, and it doesn't seem to be. Distorted thinking tends to lead one down dark paths, but honest believers live fulfilling lives full of meaning and purpose.

So I do pray from time to time, just to honour him. I too like to believe he can still hear me.

I too am here for you!
