Something I miss...

Hi everyone 💙 I hope you're doing well or at least finding small moments of peace.

Grief shows up in unexpected ways and changes the way we hold love. So I wanted to create a space here for us, for our changing grief and for all that it asks us to carry.

There are so many things standing in line waiting to be grieved. Not just loved ones or beloved pets but memories, feelings and old versions of ourselves.

I'm sharing this space with you all to talk about your "Something I miss..."

You can share as much or as little as you want. I'm listening.

Here's mine 💙

Something I miss, and it keeps changing. Grief isn't just one thing, it's a list with too many options. A smile I used to see daily, a hand I could hold when everything else felt like it was falling apart. It's like loss keeps rearranging itself, showing up in new ways just when I think I understand it. I wish it were just one thing, just one soul, because even that one option is heavier than the weight of the whole ocean.

But even if I don't have hope today. Maybe I can offer company. Maybe grief is less cruel when we let it be shared. And maybe that's enough for now.

I miss the person I used to be when I was a kid, I think it sounds a bit silly since no one would stay the same as when they were kids, but I just miss how carefree I was about everything. Homework felt like the biggest problem in my life, and the greatest thing to happen to me was probably getting ice cream after lunch. I'm still happy in life right now, but there's just so many responsibilities I have that at times I wish I could just go back to when I didn't have to worry about anything.

@RegalSpirit A beautiful childhood is rare, and those who had the joy of experiencing one always cherish it. It doesn't sound silly at all 💛 It's completely understandable to miss those wonder filled, carefree days.

Adulthood brings so many responsibilities and many of us feel the weight of it. Sometimes we just wish we could step away from it all and run back to being a kid again.

You write so beautifully. You're are absolutely right that it changes and rearranges and shows up in new ways, I don't think I had given that much thought before now. I know our hands here are figuratively and I know it's not the same but they're here for you too.... ❤️

I miss .... the possibilities of having a family, of belonging. I miss the feeling of hope those possibilities gave me. I miss me. I think I was more me before than what I am now and I don't know how to find the way back.

Your person(s) would be so proud of the person you are ❤️

@mytwistedsoul when we don't have a family to fall back on or maybe never had one at all... that kind of pain and loneliness is hard to explain. It's a quiet kind of grief. It's the silence you feel when you realise you have to become a family to yourself, your own comforter, your own motivator. You have to carry yourself through everything.

You are all that ❤️ and so much more. Not only for yourself but for so many people you love and care for. That's courage ❤️ You're healing and forgiving without receiving any apology. That kind of forgiveness is hard. You're building something out of nothing and it shines so beautifully.

Even when there's no rain, you still find a way to grow your own flowers ( and strawberries ^-^). I know it's not the same but it's real and so full of hope and light. You are so much more ❤️

Thank you for the kindness you've offered me too. I appreciate that more than I can say.

@BlueDarkAurora I must admit I struggle with forgiveness. I seem to be very capable of holding grudges. I've been trying to work on that but I'm not a very good motivator lately either.

Thank you so much for all your kindness and gentle words Aurora. They mean a great deal ❤️

I miss being actually happy, having a reason to feel good.
I miss having an actual reason to live, to keep going despite everything.
I miss the way I was when I was a kid, no thinking about the outside world, not worrying about people endangering me in some way, and being able to talk to others normally.

I always end up saying the same things over and over, don't I? If there's one thing I miss, is definitely not having social anxiety, or at least not as much as nowadays.
Being able to connect with others, to not feel like everyone's judging me for just being myself, and having friends and people to share with.

I don't know, I'm just rambling things rn, it's 3 AM here and I can't sleep

@AxlMega When something deeply affects us, it's natural to want to talk about it even if we've said it before. That's understandable ^-^

Life changes can be good but they can also feel like a downgrade. Like something special got lost along the way. It's okay to miss the past, especially when it felt simpler or safer. I hope you're able to find some part of that again.

I'm glad you shared this here. It's not the same as real life connections but I hope it helps you feel a little more connected 💜
