My friends family is having a ballon release and I’m nervous. First off I’m nervous about going and not being accepted by his family. Another reason I’m nervous is because I don’t know if my other friends will be there. I don’t wanna be there as the only friend and look awkward but it’s all for him.

Being there for someone as the event is intended should be the focus not who else is there or if those who are there like you or anything ... it is a gesture between you and the person being remembered? or celebrated.
