Two Fathers

In 1991, I went to the cinema for the first time to see the brand new film, The Little Mermaid. I was 5 years old, and it was not only a (close-to) Christmas treat, but it marked the year my foster parents became my adoptive parents.
Up to that point, and ever since, they have looked after me tremendously. They chose me and stuck with me.
My mum is a saint, both inside and out, but, honestly, my dad and I didn't get along as much as we should have. We clashed. Despite this, I will never forget that it was both of them who took me in, and it was both of them, through good and bad, who cared for me.
Despite the relationship we had, I won't forget Dad's sacrifices for me just as much as my mum's.
Rest in Peace, Dad. I'll look after Mum. You did well in place of another mother and father who are also gone.
