Our warmest Welcome to the newest members
of the Grief & Loss Community!
(who joined the 3rd week of September 2023)

The Grief and Loss Community is a caring and safe place to share your feelings arising from the loss of someone important in your life. Might be a very recent loss, in the distant past, or any time in between.

You are all invited to tell your story, write about your emotions, and also support others. Sort by "Recent" (or "New" in the phone app) and answer their posts from your perspective and with your comforting words.

This is also a place to ask questions about the nature of grieving, how to cope with the pain, and also how to manage the disruption this loss might have caused in your life.

And then, get tentative answers from people who have been in the same situation.

We encourage and welcome remembering and honoring the memory of important people in your life who passed away. You are invited to write about them, tell us what made them special, and your feelings towards them.

You might join our Check-Ins too, where we meet and exchange ideas around a common topic.

We invite you to join now our current Check-in here.

Summing up, we encourage you to post on our Forum by clicking the "Create a New Thread" box or button. You can write anything as it comes to your mind. No need to make it look pretty.

This is an opportunity to let out the thoughts that might be bouncing in your head, or the issues that worry you, and get feedback from people who are going through similar situations.

Also, browse the Community Forum, enter the posts that catch your attention, and comment by pressing "Reply " to the first post inside.

Thank you for joining the Grief and Loss Community!

We encourage you to participate actively.

See you in the Forums!

All the best to all!

@emotional232023

I have read about your loss in the Check-In.

I'm truly sorry to hear about the profound loss of your beloved Labrador companion who holds such a significant place in your heart. It must be an incredibly painful experience. It's clear from your words that your dog meant the world to you, was an integral part of your live, providing not only companionship but also emotional support and an unparalleled level of unconditional love. It's okay to grieve deeply for such a treasured friend, and there's no timeline for how long this process should take.

Grief is a journey, and it's unique for each person. It's not a linear process; it's more like a rollercoaster with ups, downs, and unexpected turns. Seven months may seem like a while, but healing from such a loss often takes longer than we anticipate. The bond you shared with your Labrador was strong, and it's completely normal to still feel the weight of that loss.

Healing isn't about forgetting or moving on; it's about finding a way to carry the love and memories of your Labrador with you in a way that allows you to find peace and continue your journey.

One suggestion that might help in easing your grief is to honor and remember your Labrador in a meaningful way. Create a scrapbook of cherished memories, write a letter to your beloved pet, or plant a tree in their memory. This could serve as a beautiful tribute and a way to keep their spirit alive in your heart.

Additionally, you might find solace in sharing your experience with others who understand your pain, like posting in this Community about your experience and feelings.

Expressing your feelings through writing or art can also be therapeutic. Sometimes, putting pen to paper or creating something in memory of your Labrador can help you process and release the emotions you're carrying.

Some people find comfort in volunteering at animal shelters, fostering dogs in need or participating in activities related to animal welfare. While it can't replace your Labrador, it can provide a sense of purpose and connection to animals, and honor the love you had for your Labrador.

If you're open to it, adopting or fostering another pet when you're ready could also help. While no pet can replace your Labrador, bringing a new fur friend into your life can offer a sense of companionship and love, helping to mend the emptiness that losing a pet leaves.

Engaging in self-care is also crucial during this time. Focus on activities that nurture your soul and bring you peace.

It's okay to have good days and bad days. Your Labrador may no longer be physically present, but their love and memories will live on in your heart forever. Take it one day at a time, and know that healing is possible, even if it doesn't feel like it right now. You're stronger than you know, and you will find a way to navigate through this pain and honor your dear companion in your own way.

Give yourself the gift of patience and kindness. Healing from such a profound loss takes time, and it's important to be gentle with yourself throughout this journey. There's no right or wrong way to grieve, and your healing path is unique to you.

I wish you the best in your journey!

Marcelo.
