dealing with grief for the first time
hello everyone!! my grandfather passed away this morning and its the first time ive had someone close to me pass. im very emotionally distraught and i dont know what to do with myself. i love my grandfather very much and his passing has me so lost. can anyone offer advice?

My dad and stepdad died within a year of each other, but I was estranged from both of them, more or less, so I never truly grieved. Let yourself grieve. There is no timeline for grief, so even if it feels like it's taking forever, it's totally ok and normal <3 We love you! I'm here to talk, ready to listen <3
thank you,, ive calmed down but i really miss him. it doesnt feel real yet. im scared for his funeral and im devastated that he wont be able to see me turn and 18 and go to college : (
It may not feel real for quite awhile. Every so often, out of the blue, not even thinking about it, I think, “My dad’s DEAD???” It’s so surreal… And it’s been awhile.
Why are you scared for his funeral?

i was scared to see him dead,, but right now im here spending his last night in the funeral home with him. im sleeping on the front pew right next to him. im very emotional right now, but i cant bare not being able to sleep by his side ever again so here i am
Awww that’s so sweet and sad… I’m glad it’s giving you a sort of closure, though. You’ll remember being loyal to him and near him to the very end, and that will make your heart feel better <3
