an abusive or extremely triggering user in the chat room
. . .and there areno Mods around.

I think this is great to have, but I'm uncomfortable with labelling a user as triggering. Can the language be changed on that?

Hi! :) What would your suggestion be?

'A user's behavior is abusive or triggering'

is a way to word it, placing the emphasis on the behavior being negative, not the user themselves :)

@Jake

Maybe "a user that would benefit from a referal to a listener instead of a group setting" ?

I had to use this the other day. The room was overrun with bullies and trolls. All sorts of people were being triggered. There were new people on there. People were arguing and calling each other terrible names, being verbally abusive and describing sexual things they wanted to do to each other. It was out of control. The moderator just left so I used this form and another moderator came in right away and it was sorted out. Thank you. I did not want anyone to be triggered and they were saying they were. The bullies were just saying things to confuse people, and I did not want the new people to leave. I also did not want to be there. This was very helpful. Thank you. I am disappointed that the moderator just left. I know it must be very challenging to be a moderator, but walking away is not the answer. Anyway, someone experienced came in and it was fixed. Bullies left. Back to business. This is a great resource.

Thanks Quick Jazz. It is just that people were stating that they were being triggered and it was just all sorts of a mess. I am good. It just made me sad and a little angry that people can do such things. I appreciate your response.

I can only imagine. It really does sound awful from what you have said so far, and that's without even knowing much about it! & Definitely. Your sadness and anger over how they could do such things is very understandable.It is a high priority that we keep the chat room environment as positive and inviting as possible, so I'm truly sorry about what happened and that the help for it didn't arrive right away. But thank you for looking out for everybody in such a hectic and distressing situation, it's greatly appreciated! As is your feedback. Wishing you well, @reliableEast3736!

@Heather @Laura I tried using this today for a spammer. It seems like it always goes to the 2nd question of whether it involved suicide or self-harm.

I thought there would be other situations where the form would be accepted?

@Jake

I'm confused what the point of the form is. As posted above, the form was not able to report a spammer, despite you saying this is one of the acceptable reasons.

Since then, I have used this to report that someone was suicidal in the chatroom, but nothing happened, no moderator appeared and the person kept posting.

The form has been fixed to allow spamming reports.

We just added some new moderators to the form to answer calls, so this should help with the response time to the form. Please keep in mind that all moderators are volunteers and will do their best to respond when they are available. You are always welcome to personally mute a user you find disruptive.

You say not to use the form of someone you don't like is in the chat room. If that is the case, then why is "someone I don't like is in the chat room" one of the options when filling out the form?

I suspect you will find, like when I tried to report a spammer, that if that option is selected the request is denied. Why it's an option I'm not entirely certain. Possibly so someone doesn't select another option just because they one they want to select isn't there?

If you select said option, you will get a message stating that that is not a use for this form and referring you to the correct place.

This is a great addition, a great accomplishment; the safety and security of all those involved with 7 Cups is of utmost importance. IF/When things become too flustered, or uncomfortable, its great to know that a MOD can be reached, and implimented.Great work, much appreciated. :)

@Community Manager

Why is our email address required for this form? Do mods who respond see our email addresses?

I assume so they can respond to you directly and so they also know who filled out the form without allowing users to use another person's username.
