Announcement: Closure of Teen Current Events Support Room
Hello lovelies, I hope everyone is well.
I am writing this post to announce the closing of the Teen Current Event Support Room with the immediate effect after discussion with Teen Community Manager @Hope
It was one of the 24/7 regular rooms. But, it was observed the room was un-moderated, activities in the room were not healthy and the purpose of the room wasn’t fulfilled. To protect and ensure the safety of our teen community, it was decided to close the room for the better.
However, it doesn’t mean permanent closure. As per the needs, we will be opening the room to provide all the required support the room could deliver.
I appreciate the patience, support, and help to ensure support and safety in the teen community.

I understand the reason to close this room. As you said, it wasn't being used with the purpose it was created for. And I would like to make a little stop here to clarify something.
CES was used too many times as a second Support Room, since having only one Support Room was not enough sometimes. There were times when the SR was too crowded by people seeking for support and the room became counterproductive. That is why CES was like a second SR.
Having that clear, I would like to propose the opening of a second SR. Thank you so much for your attention.

I'm disappointed to see this change be made. Though I understand the reasoning behind the closure of the room, I can't say that I agree with it. I have spent the majority of my time recently in the Teen Current Events Support Room, and have not felt the room to be "un-moderated" or "not healthy" in any way. But as a member of the community, I will respect the decisions the management team comes to make, as always.
I enjoyed the setup of having three 24/7 rooms open at a time: it gave those of us who did not feel comfortable in the Teen Community Room, which could get overwhelming at times as the majority of users gravitate there, and the Support Room, which is often focused on supporting a single user, leaving little room for other conversation, support or otherwise, a space where we could converse in comfort. So it is definitely upsetting to see the Teen Current Events Support Room closed in this regard.
As a solution, I do like the idea of opening up a second 24/7 Support Room/General Support Room, as proposed by @Kimmkimm and similarly in this past proposal, A Change in Group Support Chat Room: Proposal. The group support chat rooms on the teen side have been incredibly active in the past month (a good thing!), and I think the community would stand to benefit from having a third 24/7 chatroom open.

I strongly agree with the need for a third 24/7 room. It's great to see how active and vibrant the Teen Community Room has been in recent weeks, but it is undoubtedly overwhelming for many users, including myself. I have spent most of my time in the group rooms in Current Events Support lately, due to the calm atmosphere that it provides. Obviously this is not the intended purpose of the room, though, so I agree with the suggestion of a second general support room. Thank you for providing an explanation for the closure of CES, and thanks for taking the time to read our feedback!

LadyOracle has exposed a very important point, the comfortability of people in chatrooms. It is true that the Teen Community Room is a nice place to have a lighthearted conversation, but sometimes it is so crowded and it goes so fast that it is simply not nice to be there. There are others that prefer a more quiet or peaceful place, and CES was just that. I agree with the need of another 24/7 room, wether it is another support room, a second TCR or something else.

That's to bad. I didn't spend alot of time there but I had some good chats there on stuff that cant be discussed in TCR.
I nvr noticed a difference as far as moderation gos between it and the other rooms.
In fact this morning SR was busy and there were others in TCR who needed support.
I understand the reasons given. I don't honestly see this as best, but is what it is.
I hope the decision works out .
