Update: Key Changes in the Group Support Team Operations!
Hello everyone!
We are making some key changes in the Group Support Team Operations and will be applicable w.e.f Sept 25, 2020, and come into full effect from Oct 01, 2020!
Here is the list of changes we are going to apply!
Improve Room Supporter and Chat Room Moderators Onboarding Process!
The new process will be
Step 1: Group support mentor leaders will process applications for these roles. Accepted applicants will be invited to participate in a general training with Group Support Mentor Leaders. After successful completion of general training for Room Supporters (RS) and Chatroom Moderators(Mods) Group Support Mentor Leaders will announce the new RS and Mods in the community here ==> RS Welcome Thread, Mod Welcome Thread
All the applicants who passed the general training will be added directly to specific sub-communities they picked at the time of submitting an application by Group Support Leaders. And a list of them will be also shared in the Group Support Onboarding Dashboard!
Every specific Community Leader will have a week to complete any sub com specific training with the applicant to make them fully functional in the group chat rooms.
OR, all community leaders are requested to share their specific training documents, specific room participation protocols, or any relevant documents to Group Support Mentor Leaders. It will allow them to share it with the applicants before adding them to the community.
If there will be no communication from the sub-com leadership team to the new RS or chatroom mod, the applicant can:
Reach out to community leaders of the sub-community
Reach out to Group Support Mentor Leaders
Post any query in this forum thread- Room Supporters, Chatroom Moderators
Attend one of the Room Supporter/ Chatroom Moderator meetings in the chatroom. For a schedule of the meeting, reach out to @AlwaysEli
The purpose of these changes is to fasten the onboarding process and plug the new Room support or chat room moderators in the room as soon as possible so they get all practice and time to settle down in their new role.
Active participation of Room Supporters and Chatroom Moderators
We received inputs from the community that specific chat rooms not getting opened for participation while all chatroom moderators and room supporters were encouraged to open their focused chat rooms to connect, engage and support the community on specific topics. But, due to lack of proper communication, we weren't able to provide proper support to the community.
Considering all inputs and feedback, the new process will be!
Community-Centered Chatroom Moderators and Room Supporters will be coordinating and communicating with their sub-community leader (Community Mentor Leader, Support Team Leader). While the sub-com leaders will provide all help and guidance to them.
All Community-Centered Chatroom Moderators and Room Supporters are asked to get the room open for community participation when they are available in the community to provide support in the chatroom.
All Room Supporters and Chatroom Moderators will be required to submit their weekly participation progress through a short check-in form. The check-in form responses will be accessible to admins, group support mentor leaders, community mentor leaders, community mentors, support team leaders for coordinating and supporting our chatroom mods and room supporters.
If any chatroom moderator or room supporter do not communicate for a month, their badges will be removed. We all are committed to help and support our members and provide the best space to share, feel heard, and better. And, we required our moderators and room supporters full support in this. Mentor Leaders and Ambassadors will not be required to submit check-in form.
Introduction of Group Support Leaders
Many times, the community shared that they have no idea who all is room supporter, chatroom moderator, support room mentor, doorkeepers, support room mentors in the community.
So to address this, we created a Group Support Team: Introduce Yourself Here! in the Group Support Sub-Community.
Under this category, every leader of the group support are requested to introduce and tell a bit about themselves to our community members, so that know who all are the group support leaders and to whom they may reach out if need any help or support related to chat-rooms.
Better Group Support Team Coverage in each sub-community!
To have a balanced growth of all sub-communities and their dedicated group support rooms, every sub-com leader will be submitting the count of room supporters and chatroom moderators on the onboarding dash to reflect the specific team strength.
Based on the available data, every month, a recruitment post will be shared by the group support mentor leaders and 5 sub-communities will get priority over other sub-coms. The priority will be based on the less count of mods and room supporters. All applicants will be encouraged to apply for the specific sub-coms over others to ensure balanced growth and support for all.
All room supporters who completed two weeks in their role can apply to become chatroom moderators to step up as a group support leader and support the community and the group support team.
We are making all these changes to be well synced as a team to provide all support to our members. We will keep improving and growing as we progress!

@ASilentObserver
Thank you so much for this, it was needed indeed
I am looking forward to seeing the community growing even more!
@ASilentObserver
Hi There Obs ! I hope all of us are doing well.
I understood everything and it is literally a great step towards making the community more supportive however I wanted to ask how will we open the rooms for discussion if we are not doorkeepers. Could we become now after being Chatroom Moderator??
@ASilentObserver
I realised I have a couple of questions
"All Community-Centered Chatroom Moderators and Room Supporters are asked to get the room open for community participation when they are available in the community to provide support in the chatroom.": does a RS still need the presence of a mod though?
How can we become a doorkeeper?
Thank you
@sunflower2480
Rooms supporters can ask a community moderator to open the room for them, their schedule is here: CommunityMod Schedule , of this way you also inform them that you will be leading a discussion or open chat in the room, they will set the banner for you.
You don't need a mod being present, since you are trained to keep the room safe and supportive and requesting the help from the community moderator if needed, we think you will being doing good. (and since you asked them to open the room, you should know who is there and find them easilly, they are available for you)
@vivelespatates thank you, merci
what happen if i dont fill those forms, will I lose my roles?
@ASilentObserver who are the Group Support Mentor Leaders?
@ASilentObserver how do I see if someone filled the check in form for my team?
