24-hour Adult Group Support Marathon Re-Cap

Thank you SO much to everyone who volunteered or participated in the 24-hour Group Support Marathon!

This event had an amazing turn-out! I’m truly humbled and blown away by how many people showed up to participate and pump up group support, our subcommunity teams, and 7 Cups in general! It was so much fun and excitement, and not gonna lie, I’m still pretty tired haha

To my wonderful volunteer hosts: Thank you a million! This would not have been possible at all without all of you volunteering your personal time and energy into coordinating and hosting and overall keeping this event running as smoothly as it did. Feedback from the form, my PMs, as well as from the sessions themselves, and the Re-Cap event really show how your hard work was seen, recognized, and thoroughly appreciated. You have my utmost gratitude! (And look out for incoming cheers as a thank you as well!)

To the fabulous participants: You ROCK. Everyone showed up, showed out, stayed supportive, stayed engaged, and I like to think had a good time in every session we presented throughout the day. Your participation and support in the group support community is always appreciated! You all really showed what community really is, and that’s awesome. Thank you!

I look forward to hosting another marathon with the community in the future! And I hope you all do too! Keep an eye out for future updates and events in the group support community. Thank you again, everyone! I couldn't have asked for the event to go over better.

Please read below for highlights, stats, and some awesome feedback from participants in the event!

Just some of my favorite highlights from the event:

• All 24 hours were covered! There were no lapses in sessions, and I don't think the room really slowed down or stopped the whole time.

• Listeners AND members stepping up when hosts needed to step away or had technical difficulties to cover and keep the sessions moving!

• The overwhelming amount of positive feedback and supportive comments!

• The seamless transitions from one session to another! Hosts trading off without hesitation.

• The coordination of all volunteers to be sure they had the correct information, as well as were prepared for their sessions.

• How involved the community was in advertising and promoting the event in the days approaching the event. I could tell everyone was pumped and ready for the event!

• The sheer love and appreciation for our hosts from participants! Our re-cap event was filled with amazing sentiments of gratitude for the hard work of our volunteer hosts.

• The collaborative nature of the marathon and how hosts were supporting each other and working together from different subcommunity teams.

Now for some numbers!

• In total, 16 different subcommunity and group support teams were represented!

• We had a whopping 222 participants, with over 10k messages sent during the marathon!

• We had 41 feedback form submissions. Average ratings out of 10 below:

  • Okay. Where do I begin? There was so many conversation going on at once. But I guess that's to be expected when there's so many participating. The simple fact that Lin was able to reply to everyone and made sure they were heard is simply amazing. I personally lost track of what was going on half the time. LOL. Please let her know she's special and her work is appreciated. Hope to see her host again soon!

  • Lin's so chill and attentive to everyone. She takes the time to respond to everyone's responses before moving on to the next icebreaker question. Appreciate her hosting.

  • Love how richu adapts between different session styles so seamlessly. She's talented and her work is appreciated.

  • Sher and Harmony did a great job! The trivia questions were very specific but the idea of listening to music together was really nice. Thank you!

  • These two (sher and harmony) did a great job as hosts! I'm not sure if they usually work together for a discussion, but they seemed to have it down! as far as who is in charge of which things and keeping things going ... not rushing us as participants, but still keeping things on track. It felt supportive for me, just simply from that! Working together is a big deal - and I think these two did it very well. Thank you!

  • Amazingly well hosted. LuLu and PuzichkinCat are amazing hosting together. They lift each other to shone brightly. The discussion was very interesting and informative and the host did a wonderful job answering tricky questions from both members and listeners.❤

  • Anna did such a great job hosting a chilllaxed session for the 24 hour support. It was sharing about music and books and played a game of "this or that." She is always a great host, very warm and inviting.

  • I didn't know when I entered the room that this was just the discussion I needed to be in. It is hard to be in relationship where you're the only one putting in the effort and it seems like no one else is going through the same thing you are. But this discussion made me realize otherwise. There are others like me who do feel under appreciated in relationships and I'm not alone. Being in the room gave me a great sense of community and hearing everyone share and comfort each other was heartwarming. To the host, I thank you for hosting this session and offering your courage and support to everyone that was there in the session. What I gathered from the session is that we are all deserving of feeling appreciated and valued. And no matter how tough or challenging our upbringings or past relationships may have been, it doesn't have to be the determining factor on how the future ones and how we interact with other people. Thank you once again Mango for making me realize what it means to be appreciated and I do too hope you know that you are appreciated.
