5 Exotic Habits That Will Make You Happier.

Life is basically made up of customs.

Few people can afford to invent a different routine each day. However, even amidst the limits imposed by each day, we can introduce exotic habits that have the potential to significantly enrich our lives.

When we talk about exotic habits, we are not referring to strange or unusual behavior. They are simply customs that are not common, but that is not why they are difficult to adopt or internalize.

Many of the things we do routinely are learned without realizing it. Nor does it occur to us to make an objective analysis and assess whether these customs really help us to live better or are simply maintained by the inertia of repetition itself. This is, then, an invitation to review them and also, perhaps, to adopt exotic habits that can be very helpful.

1. Sleep in an enabling position.

It may seem strange, but the body postures we adopt promote certain attitudes in us. Sometimes, for example, we walk with our heads down. This is because we feel anguished and fragile. However, at the same time, walking like this reinforces these attitudes.

The surprising thing is that this also applies to when we go to sleep. If we curl up in a fetal position, for example, we will tend to wake up feeling low and feeling that the day has passed us by. On the other hand, if we stretch completely, expanding, our attitude will likely be more positive when we wake up.

2. Have 3 positive experiences for every negative experience.

It is one of the exotic habits that we must adopt and practice without fail. As the subtitle says, it's simply that for every negative experience we get three positive ones. That simple.

The purpose of this is to purify the mind and soul of the remnants that remain after experiencing something bad. A negative experience generates an echo, and it can ruin our mood for an entire day, or even longer. By compensating it with three positive experiences, the residues of what is bad are dispersed and we are able to regain balance more easily.

3. Pretend you're happy, one of the exotic habits that work.

The brain is a mysterious and wonderful organ. It's mostly creative. Under certain circumstances, it fails to distinguish the line between reality and fantasy. For example, when we watch a very sad movie, even though we know it's an illusion, the brain feels like it's happening in its own skin (mirror neurons).

We can use this extraordinary mechanism to our advantage. For example, pretending to be happy even though we don't feel well. We can behave like actors or actresses who should play the role of someone happy. You might be surprised to see what happens after a few days of “acting” in this way.

4. Send friendly emails for no reason.

This is one of the most exotic habits that can make you happy. It looks like the above in that you don't have to feel good to adopt a positive attitude. If the mood is down, there's nothing better than doing something to make others feel good. It's been proven that helping others is the best way to help yourself.

Giving these gratifications from the heart enhances the lives of those who do. In this case, it's simply a matter of getting into the habit of sending warm, positive messages to our loved ones. Not something pre-designed, but a message created by you. This works especially on difficult days, and immediately changes the emotional state we are in.

5. Search for outdoor spaces.

Nature exerts a strong influence on our emotions. The effect is almost immediate. Just approach a green space and instantly feel its healing power in mind and body. It's one of the healthiest exotic habits we can adopt.

It is best to take advantage of this practice to walk barefoot on the grass or lie down for a while to get the sun. If that's not possible, at least a daily walk in the open air is worth it. It helps to organize ideas, relax the mind and regain internal balance.

All these customs are exotic habits, because in reality not many people adopt them. However, they are worth a try. They are a way to increase the meaning of your daily life.

@KACOSMIC
I really like these with the exception of number four. On the growth path one of the exercises it to watch a you tube video called "Instructions for a Bad Day", and in the narrator encourages people to be honest about how they feel when someone says, "How are you?" To the idea of "fake it 'til you make it" seems disingenuous. I don't go out of my way to advertise the extent of my feelings if I am really having a bad day, but I think getting those feelings out is important. And once that is done, I am all smiles.

I think the search for outdoor spaces is a really important thing to do, especially if you can find a place where the sounds of nature are not drowned out by the crush of humanity.

Thank you for these exotic habit suggestions!
