Importance of Recovery and Fatigue Management

One of the biggest things about exercising well and engaging in rigorous activity is understanding your body's limits! With most of the trainers and fitness instructors I talked to, everyone emphasized that working out is 70% recovery to 30% the actual exercise.

As I'm currently weight-lifting I realize the importance of recovery in the aspect of maintaining fatigue (physical and mental!) and also self-care in keeping our bodies from overworking.

What are some of your top and recommended recovery habits or routines?

For me:

1. Fish oil Supplements: Lower inflammation and speed up muscle recovery from soreness and damage

2. Stretching: very important for proper blood circulation and range of motion maintainance!

3. Cold Showers: Cold showers constrict blood vessels and speeds up blood flow to areas that require recovery!

I struggle with this a lot as I find so much goes out of balance quickly.

Pacing is a big one for me, that and listening to my body.

Trying to manage my micronutrients, I seem to get a lot of deficiencies quickly but some things become to high as well. Healthcare with COVID hasn't ben great in giving support to really know where things are at.

Timing my HAEgarda infusions to prevent my bradykinin levels getting too high, exercise seems to be a trigger for that going up.

Hey @AffyAvo!

Thanks for sharing this on this thread. I agree a lot of us (me included) forget about self-caring after exercising especially with the rhetoric that seems to go around saying exercise is all good for you! I'm glad you were able to recognize specific aspects of your recovery routine that you want to emphasize on and I'm sure meeting up to them leads to more effective and satisfying workout session.
