Martial arts?
Does anyone here practice martial arts?
I'm torn between joining Wushu and Jiu-jitsu.
The last one was because two of my younger cousins frequent it, and one of them showed me a video. I always thought would be more agressive but seem's more self defense?
But yeah I would love to hear you guys. Is my first joining something like this so I would like some knowledge.

Hi there, I've been doing Kung Fu for about 4 years now =)! But we're mainly all about forms / katas, either on your own, with a partner or with several weapons, like, the sports club where I'm doing it. So I'm kinda good at that stuff, but it's an entirely different story when it comes to actual sparring or self defense... :P
But I'm not quite sure what's typical for those two martial art styles you mentioned. I'd say Wushu is with weapons, too... but just guessing though.^^
So yeah... I definitely love Kung Fu, but I'm afraid I don't know much about any other martial arts. But I'd be interested in finding out so...^^

Is ok. What can you tell me about kung fu?
I'm open to any martial arts, I'm still deciding which one to join anyways. So please tell me a bit about it :)

Hmm... I guess what I love most about it is the whole chi thing. That's what it's based on. And once you realized what it's all about, you can use that approach for your whole life, it's super beautiful of sorts. :)
Chi is like your energy. Physically but also like focus. You can find it and bundle it through... well, deep and aware breathing actually. Which in fact means self-awareness and focus on the very moment and whatever it is you need that energy for right now. Which leads you to the yin/yang thing, like, breathe in and breathe out, collect the energy and use it, everything has its opposite and both parts are needed equally to find balance.
So it's like... the stuff you learn to improve your Kung Fu techniques and make them more effective... in fact it's all about life and how you can deal with real life challenges. Kind of like your whole life in fact is Kung Fu, like, learning more about it and trying to apply it =). It just totally makes sense and it's like a super well thought-out approach.
So I really love that it's not just sports and not just fighting, but goes way deeper. I'm sure you'll end up being super wise and achieve like so much inner balance and the ability to really go for what you're trying to achieve and still not forget to spend enough time fueling up again.
So yeah... I'd say that's what it's all about and why I love it. *v*

@Booklover95 HEY! I hope this is going well, I see it was posted a month ago.
I find Jiu-Jitsu it great. Always fun to roll, and good discipline and awareness is gained apart from the defence side of things. I've been doing it for about 12 years now, and run a YouTube channel exploring different techniques. Feel free to PM me!

These seem like good strength building + cardio workouts. I have been using my Wii Fit to do the boxing activity, and it can be a vigorous type of a workout.
