Hey there... Great question. Typically, we should of course drink water when we are thirsty. And of course, try our best to stick to water mostly when trying to stay hydrated. (Since other beverages tend can tend to have extra sugars, pointless calories that add up, and some can even have the opposite affect and be "dehydrating")....

A simple rule that seems to help is to go with the standard of 64ounces a day (which equals 8 glasses/cups of water) per day. Which is typically for everyone.

However if one is active, and losing water through sweat etc... another rule of thumb is to drink "HALF" the amount of your body weight. (So example... If a person weighs 150 pounds, then they would drink "Half" that amount. Which would be 75 ounces. Or if a person weights 200 pounds then they would drink up to 100 ounces).... etc... etc...

**Disclaimer: **OF COURSE THIS IS ALL PROVIDING THAT THERE ARE NO MEDICAL CONDITIONS INVOLVED** And the person is Healthy.

**Then the average, healthy person would go with the standards listed above. And of course, ounces and weight can be converted to Kilos or whatever metric system a persons country uses.

**If you feel thirsty, then drink. Its been said that by the time you "feel thirsty" that dehydration is already setting in~

**If you feel you are drinking in "excess", then a visit with your health provider should be mentioned to rule out any potential issues.
