Nutrient Focus of the Day

Hi guys! I wanted to a series focusing on the benefits of each nutrient to help us as a community be mindful of the different kinds of nutrients and minerals in our body and how we can perhaps incorporate it into our diet for a healthier living!

Today's nutrient is: Vitamin E :)

Vitamin E is the only fat-soluble antioxidant within the essential vitamins and minerals therefore plays key roles in our body!

Vitamin E is responsible for many functions in our body including:

1. Our immune system! (vitamin E plays an important role in maintaining our immune systems and making sure it works optimally)

2. Important Antioxidant! (like Vitamin C, Vitamin E works in tandem to play as an important antioxidant in the body)

- Why can't we just eat Vitamin E or C alone? Because Vitamin C works mainly in water-soluble areas such as our blood and Vitamin E works in the fat-soluble areas like within parts of our cells! It's important to have both~

- Its antioxidant properties can deter many conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular and various metabolic diseases.

Good sources of Vitamin E!

- Veggies (Spinach and dark greens ~honestly these have everything! , Avocados, Squash and Pumpkins)

- Vegetable Oils (Sunflower, soybean and many various oils)

- Nuts (Almonds, sunflower seeds)
