Finding the Balance Between Caring and Boundaries
I’ve noticed I tend to take on more for others than I probably should, and I’m trying to be more intentional about how I manage that
I value being supportive, but I also want to get better at setting clear boundaries and not overextending myself
For those who’ve figured this out, what’s helped you stay balanced without feeling like you’re pulling back too much? Would appreciate any practical tips or mindset shifts that worked for you
Good question because I like helping people but I experience burnout a lot and usually when I help, it's one sided.
I think I just look at my schedule and see if it's complicated or simple, do I have the time for other people at present?
I might just break up my day by helping 1 person and then get back to my own routine and decide later if I want to do more.
Now I've realised that it's not selfish to step back and look after myself, it actually makes me feel good.
And I'm lot less resentful of others take take taking, because I'm including my needs too.

It depends on the person you are helping. Some people are very needy and wear anyone trying to help out.
While we can see others in need of help it is much like when oxygen masks come down on a plane the safety speech says place your mask first ......than help others. Think of this when helping is crossing into you burning out. It is not selfish to back away when the needs or others is more than you can give.
