Coffee...but make it healthy!

Coffee! Is anything as fabulous as this immediate ***-causing liquid...I think not. But, it can be hard on our guts, so what is one to do?

After a brief chat with a nutritionist this morning, they mentioned a couple things:

1. Add fat, protein and fibre to every meal

2. Coconut and mtc oil are great

3. Collagen and inulin as tolerated also 👍

Plants carry inulin naturally, and it is put in some foods as well by man.

Chia seeds have fat, protein AND fibre.

Coconut oil is also great for skin care and cooking as it doesn't break down from saturated (healthy) to trans (unhealthy) fats.

mkay is everyone good and confused now

@Dallady

As a coffee lover, this is great. I usually use coconut oil for cooking. It's nice that it has great benefits for the skin! How much coffee do you usually drink Dallady? Also, appreciate you sharing this information with us!💜

Your welcome! Don't really have a set amount I drink daily. Maybe one to three cups on average though I guess...hbu?

I've tried coconut oil which is tolerable but also tried putting ground chia seeds in my coffee and I'm not sure if I like it

@Dallady

Oh wait, do you mean putting coconut oil in the coffee? I have not tried that. I've heard of people putting butter in their coffee! I drink one cup every morning!💜

Yes, I heard of butter in coffee almost a decade ago and was like 'wtf okay cool' as I wasn't a bit coffee drinker.

Now I drink a cup a day and get it.

I used to be so disturbed by my mom consistently drinking this foul liquid.

Red wine too...I did NOT get it.

My dad always drank it too, he was around a lot less - would buy it on the way to work so I have less attachment to him drinking it.

But it feels odd to talk about; I kept secrets as a kid like about my parents smoking pot.

Had some kind of toxic tribal mentality.

And it's hard to process so many decades later because while neuroplasticity is a thing, so is 'you can't teach an old dog new tricks' in the sense that building a new way of thinking is about as easy as teaching an old dog to sit, stay, walk, etc..

Anyway.

Lately I've been drinking my coffee black.

It's supposed to be healthier than with milk or cream, sugar, etc..

We'll see how long this lasts.

Maybe until next month when I start receiving a rental supplement and will be able to start affording food again.
