Anybody else TOO SLEEPY to function??

I've been going through a lot of emotional and mental duress over the past 6-8 weeks (my therapist wanted me admitted cuz it was so bad... which is why I tried out 7 Cups in the first place & so far its helped me a lot) and this week I got absolutely b*tch-slapped with a FATIGUE sledgehammer. I've slept close to 80 hours over the past 6 days, including taking quick naps during my breaks at work. I have NO IDEA why I am suddenly so tired all the time. At first I assumed it was because of my monthly Flo Visit, but usually I never get this tired (and if I do I can drink a small coffee & be fine the rest of the day)Then I thought it may be because of all the stress finally catching up with me? I dont want to schedule an appointment with a doctor just for them to tell me I "just need more rest" & send me home with an astronomical bill. I am wondering what I should do? Could it just be from over-stressing or should I see a doctor? (this has only been happening for about a week or so) I was also gonna ask my mother for her opinion (shes been a nurse for 28yrs and is currently studying to be a doctor) but I was also curious if anybody else on here has had this happen or has an opinion of what this might be? Any coping mechanisms I can do to help me be less tired? (aside from sleeping or OD-ing on NoDoze pills) Any advice is appreciated!

Hey there!.. Welcome to the Healthy Living Community and to 7cups! We're so glad to hear that 7cups has been beneficial to you!

First I just wanted to let you know that I have moved your post to our "Sleeping Well" section of the Healthy Living community. Since its regarding "Sleep" and Perhaps you will also get better support from others who might have gone through somethings similar.

As a Nurse myself.... I would say that it could be a plethora of things or a combo of things. Really when it comes down to sleep it could be simply not getting enough "quality" sleep to other factors (which could also be medically related). When I say medical related, (I mean things like Stressors, Anemia, Thyroid issues, Menstrual cycle, Sleep Disorders etc...etc...)....

You said that you've been through alot of emotional and mental stressors recently and perhaps it very well could just be your body compensating for some of that. Or the combination of both that and your monthly Cycle. I know for me, I get the same way each month in that I feel so tired and all I want to do is sleep the whole week away.

Since you've only really noticed it over the past week, if it were me, I wouldn't be too alarmed with it at the moment. And you could do things to try to refresh yourself to see if it helps. Such as taking cool showers, getting outdoors and getting fresh air, green teas for more energy, a good quality multi-vitamin or Super B complex vitamins for energy etc...etc.... However, if this is something that continues, for several weeks or more, then I would certainly recommend and suggest that you see your primary care provider just to rule out any other factors!

We wish you the best of luck and please check back and let us know how you are continuing to do and feel!
