Call Me By Your Name

Hi everyone!

How was your weekend?

Last weekend I watched a movie that I really enjoyed. Watching a movie is perhaps one of the easiest things to do because you don't have to do much. And yet, it's one of the most exciting hobbies of all. When you learn to pay attention to the details, you can enjoy movies much more. Some of the benefits of watching movies are listed below:

🎞️ Relaxation

Movies help you let go of your feelings and act as a catharsis, sometimes helping you express feelings that you have trouble expressing. Movies are also known to reduce anxiety and stress as they help release cortisol and dopamine in the brain.

🎞️ Motivation

Movies make us think, they make us compassionate, they inspire us to help others and do good for humanity. Romantic films, on the other hand, remind us why love is important and why it is worth fighting for.

🎞️ Inspire social and cultural reflection

Films from around the world promote awareness, make the social struggles of other communities understandable, inspire curiosity, interest in other cultures, and respect for diversity.

🎥 Was there ever a movie you saw where you liked the character played more than the actor in real life? Which movies were they and why?

I don't know much about the lives of actors and actresses, I admire some of them because of their work. So it's difficult to separate one thing from the other.

By googling I have found actresses that have done wonderful characters i Iove, but are known for not-so-wonderful behavior in real life:

  • Sandra Bullock (great characters like Ryan Stone in "Gravity", Melissa McCarthy in "The Heat", and so many wonderful characters her career)

  • Meg Ryan (super-lovely main character in "When Harry Met Sally", "You've got an Email", "Sleepless in Seattle") has been known for disgusting behaviors like cheating on her partners

  • Julia Roberts ("Notting Hill" and so many others...) is known for her bad attitudes and aggressive behavior towards "normal" people (maybe fed up with too much fan craze)

🎥 What genres of movies do you like?

Romantic comedies, science fiction, historical, thrillers...

🎥 Is there a movie you saw for the second time that changed your opinion of the whole movie compared to the first time?

"The Jungle Book" Disney movie. 1st time as a kid: amazing fun story. 2nd time as adult: Great piece of art.

🎥 Recommend 3 good movies you think others should see

- 2001 a Space Oddissey

- The Shawshank Redemption

- When Harry met Sally

🎥 Do you have a favourite movie soundtrack?

- Finding Nemo (in Spotify: click)

I like most of the movies you listed here! I've seen almost everything you mentioned except "The Heat", I'll definitely put that one on my list since it stars Melissa McCarthy and I'd love to see more of her movies since I loved her in Mike and Molly (sitcom)

Julia Roberts ("Notting Hill" and so many others...) is known for her bad behavior and aggressive behavior towards "normal" people (maybe she's fed up with too much fan mania) - I've no idea, but I've seen most of her movies. I liked her role in Eat, Pray, Love.

Romantic comedies, science fiction, historical films, thrillers...

Great! Any recommendation for historical movies? hehe

"The Jungle Book" Disney movie. 1st time as a kid: amazing fun story. 2nd time as adult: Great piece of art.

Omg, I also love The Jungle Book, that and The Land Before Time film series. Thanks for the movie recommendation, and sharing the movie soundtrack you like. These are all brilliant movies. You have a good taste! 😊

Thanks for the check-in.

Don't mention it ;)

🎥 SciFi!

Yay, me too!

🎥 Inception with Leo DiCaprio! I had to watch it at least 5 times!

Oh, this is a good movie. I loved that movie. Just out of curiosity, have you seen Interstellar? Did you like it?

🎥 Inception, Twilight, Star Trek

Wow, nice! Nice to know that there are people here who like Star Trek 😄💛

🎥 Twilight!

I'm not a big fan of the movie series, the book series was a little better, not my favourite, but I've to admit I like the soundtrack.

🎬 I don't usually know the actors who play the characters I like, I don't seem to get into the "fame" of famous people. If there is an actor who plays a lot of characters I like I will often learn their name and usually like the "character" they play as themselves, since realistically all I know is another character they play not who they are irl.

🎬 My favourite genres of movie would include: Kid/family movies, drama, dramatic comedy, and fantasy/adventure.

🎬 I don't find my feelings about a movie change as dramatically as that, each time I watch a movie the emotions associated may shift or change, but to outright shift it would likely be due to a separate association with the movie rather than the movie itself.

🎬 Three movies I would recommend to others include:

  1. "The Martian" - I like the message that sometimes everything is going to go wrong and it won't be fair but all you can do is accept it and figure out how to deal with it, and humor can help you cope.
  2. "Good Will Hunting" - An old one but it seems life is telling me to watch it again.
  3. "Lord of the Rings" - I just couldn't make a list without including this one.

🎬 I usually love individual songs from lots of soundtracks more than any one soundtrack in particular, though I do listen to certain songs from the Twilight soundtrack a lot.

🎬 My favourite genres of movie would include: Kid/family movies, drama, dramatic comedy, and fantasy/adventure. I've seen many movies in my life based on these genres. Very nice selection.👌

Cool, I take your point 👌

  3. "Lord of the Rings" - I just couldn't make a list without including this one. Oh my goodness, I enjoyed all those movies too. I'm glad you saw LOTR, I love LOTR! I think I mentioned it somewhere on the forum before. Good Will Hunting was superb, and anything with Robin Williams is never disappointing. There isn't a movie of his that I haven't enjoyed. After LOTR, I'd put Indiana Jones on my list of recommendations.

Hello! Fun questions! 🐈

...fun questions which as soon as I thought about my mind went blank and said 'what movies I have never watched a single one ever' 😅 so it took me some thinking to get my brain back online and running 😮

🎥 Was there ever a movie you saw where you liked the character played more than the actor in real life? Which movies were they and why? - I have a habit of never remembering which actor plays what role, or who they are, and never keep up with anything anyone does so honestly, I have no clue. But just as a general, I would dislike any of the actors who have done things like being racist, sexist or homophobic, or just general not niceness from them in real life.

🎥 What genres of movies do you like? -animation! Anything animated I adore, and I do tend to enjoy any historical films, and I know not really a movie genre, but I love animal documentaries 😺

🎥 Is there a movie you saw for the second time that changed your opinion of the whole movie compared to the first time? -I will be honest... Majority of movies I need to rewtach to gain a full understanding of them, after an explanation of what actually happened in them from my friend 😅 I misunderstand a lot, especially because I struggle to focus on the actual plot when there's so much else going on (sounds and the picture), it's a lot to process for me, so second time is always more fun! Understanding what's happening helps a lot for that 😆

🎥 Recommend 3 good movies you think others should see. -1917, -the King's speech, -the butler. (just to name three I've watched most recently, I also saw hidden figures, Victoria & Abdul, they shall not grow old, and a call to spy)

🎥 Do you have a favourite movie soundtrack? -hans zimmer always has excellent soundtracks

Thanks! 🐈

My weekend just getting started. Ready to chill and sleep in. Been a while since I have been to the movies. I just want to sleep in after a hard day's work. When you do 10 to 12 hours a day. Dreams are your movie. Sleeping in motivates me enough to get things done. Being silly with family, friends, and coworkers entertains me occasionally. They can be inspiring.

Questions:

Anything

🎥 Is there a movie you saw for the second time that changed your opinion of the whole movie compared to the first time?

Probably, but I don't keep track

🎥 Do you have a favourite movie soundtrack?

Anything is fine with me.
