Ciao,
I started back learning to crochet, there is a club at my local library. Right now, they are making something to give to a retirement home, and at the end of the year the will give each person a crochet gift. I am hoping that i can make something relatively easy by that time.
I imagine that knitting is harder to learn.

I feel like crochet gifts are very special because it’s not just about the item, it’s about the time and love you put into making something to make someone smile (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

I also imagine that knitting is harder to learn. I've heard knitters say that about crochet too, though, so I'm not sure haha. I tried to get started, but there's all this new terminology with knitting that I didn't even know about. So, I'm back to crocheting for now, haha.

Just spreading the good word of knitting boards/looms: if you want an inexpensive and easy way to learn knitting, I highly recommend learning on a knitting loom! You can do the same knitting stitches on a loom. It's basically the same thing as knitting, except someone is holding the needles and you're just moving the yarn back and forth. :) Now I'm ready for needles and I'm excited!
now I'm gotta start with loom knitting, hehe
I love knitting so much (even tho I don't knit) I always felt like there’s something kind of magical about it, I mean watching someone move the needles around and then ... Voilà! suddenly it’s a whole sweater?? like how 😮
when I was a kid, watching granny knit felt like a magic trick. I used to be so impressed (and honestly a little jealous lol because I could never figure out how those needles worked, so I was just like; wow, granny is SO talented) 😂
And now you’re ready for needles too - woah, that’s so cool!!! 👏
Basically in my pov you’re about to make the magic happen yourself … like do this, do that and tadaaa *lol
but honestly, loom knitting sounds like the perfect way to ease into it. Can't wait to start!! :D

I just started knitting two sweaters at once. It’s a little crazy. Same pattern, different sizes and colors. I knit a part of one, put it on stitch holders, and the go to the next. Back and forth. I have two different project bags. IDK If this will work or not. It’s such a new pattern no one else on revelry has made one. Wish me luck!
I think switching back and forth is a good thing as helps avoid burnout on a single project! :)

My People!! 🤗
I'm quite proud of my current project. It's coming out beautiful. This is my first new stitch that is a true knitting stitch and I love it. It's the farrow stitch, and it's beautiful on both sides. My border is a garter stitch, which is just a row of knits followed by a row of purls.
Farrow stitch:
Row 1: p2, k1
Row 2: k2, p1
that's it!
Super easy and so pretty. (I think!) My yarn is fuzzy so that's why there's pilling hanging off of it. This is going to be a long-term project because I have to work it peg by peg and the yarn is a bit spendy. This blanket is staying with me. :)
but I couldn't understand the stitches part tbh as knitting seems very different from crocheting T-T
But honestly it both sounds and looks amazing!!! ♡
The color is so cute, and the stitches are so neat ⭐
and the fact it looks good on both sides?? that feels like some next-level knitting magic to me lol

Awww thank you so much! I am really enjoying this one. It's slow but very relaxing and I've been able to get some good podcast listening done.
K's are knits, p's are purls. The first row is two purls, one knit. Repeat. Your next row you just do the opposite and this is the pattern you get. This loom makes a blanket that is 60 inches across, roughly queen size. If you want to practice before diving in like I did, they make little looms for scarves. I practice all of my new stitches on one.

I just thought I would tell you I frogged my blanket 😭😅
This is the 3rd time. The other two times my tension was too tight and I pulled both apart. I found inconsistencies in my stitches this time as I went along, got mad and pulled it apart. I started over, but I'm not going all the way around the loom this time, and I'm being more careful with my stitches. I don't know what I did with my other one, but one end came out shorter than the other 🤣
oh nuuu, poor blankie getting frogged for the third time 😭
lowkey relatable tho, I do the same while crocheting sometimes (I crave for perfection so bad) :')
but honestly I liked how you restarted three times instead of settling for smth u didn't liked!! I appreciate the patience so much XD

uneven ends!!! ... smth so many ppl struggle with 😅
but that's our style .. a unique one XD, bcz we don't follow what others do, we create our own creatures lol
well, something kinda similar happened to me too :(
I was making granny squares (10 of them) but idk how some ended up slightly smaller than the others
and you know what I did?
instead of making more or fixing 'em, I literally gave 'em a GOOD stretch so they’d match the size of the rest 😛

@TovaCares76 I almost always frog a project a couple of times before I really get going. I am a hand knitter. You mentioned using a loom, do you like it? I’ve never tried it.
I love my looms! This is my fine gauge loom, but my favorite is a medium gauge infinity loom I think I paid $20 for. That loom makes super quick and fluffy blankets. I want to start knitting with needles 😁
An update on my project:
It is coming out nice! The knit is very pretty and the yarn is working out well. I included an up close picture of my knit, and a picture of the top of my loom so you can see what it looks like while I'm working with it. :)
