Pokemon Go | Basic Tips & Safety
Hey there!
Intro
I'm Brian and I'm a Listener here at 7Cups. Now while I do love doing what I do here, I don't spend all of my time on it. When I'm not on here, I like to go out for a jog or even go cycling while playing the new and wildly popular game "Pokemon Go". So, I thought I'd write up a little guide to anyone who either has or is looking to get the game soon.
Safety First
Yes, the game can be exciting, but there's a few safety tips you should know before you go hunting out in public. Here's a little list of some examples of the DO's and DON'T's:
DO:
- Bring a parent/guardian or friend with you if you are young
- Be aware of your surroundings at all times and look up away from your phone every 2 seconds or so. If you need to catch something, stop first then play
DON'T:
- Talk to anybody you don't know unless you are accompanied by a parent or guardian, or unless they are your age and you feel comfortable
- Walk on busy roads/motorways (highways)
- Attempt to enter water/lakes/lochs etc. for water-type Pokemon. They can be found at shores.
- Get into conflict with other gym teams in real life.
Getting Pikachu at The Start of The Game
When you start the game, you will be promoted to catch your first Pokemon. You will be given the choice to catch your first Pokemon. You will be given 3 options (Squirtle, Charizard or Bulbasaur). If you walk away from the area, you will be prompted again to catch one of them. Walk away again, and eventually (around your 5th time) the game will acknowledge that you aren't interested, and a Pikachu will appear for you to catch.
Leveling Up
The whole game revolves around going outside of the house and catching Pokemon. Here is a list of the XP you can receive from catching. You can throw curveballs to get bonus XP if the catch is successful. You can throw a curveball by swirling the Pokeball in circles before releasing, or by dragging it in a curve as you throw it. Here is a list of how much XP you can earn from each action.
Capture a Pokémon (+100 XP)
Discover a new Pokémon (+500 XP)
Nice capture (+10 XP)
Great capture (+50 XP)
Excellent capture (+100 XP)
Curveball capture (+10 XP)
Evolve a Pokémon (+500 XP)
Visit a Pokéstop (+50 or 100 XP)
Do not walk across busy freeways searching for pokemon.
Do not drive with your butt in order to free your hands to use the game.
Do not walk into dark sewer tunnels or abandoned shacks spraypainted with the words "free pokemon."
I'm sorry but I'm not sure how Pokemon is relevant to this site and what makes you guys qualified to tell people what they should and shouldn't do
@selfconfidenteagle6805
Hello!
I happened to see another Pokemon Go Safety Tips thread so thought I'd make one of my own under the same board that that one was made.
As for your other statement, nor me or any other Listener is or ever will tell you what to do, ever. I was simply giving some tips on how to stay safe. That's all.
@MonBon
Thank you for moving this thread to a more aproppriate one. I appreciate it.
@BrianH
ok, on a different note the fact that there is 3 category's for Pokemon is totally stupid I mean I really don't know what Pokemon has to do with 7 cups
@selfconfidenteagle6805
I understand your concern and confusion <3
In addition to the serious threads we have here in the 7cups forums, we also have forums that pertain to hobbies and popular trends. We like to keep the site open; a lot of people can meet and make friends through similar hobbies!
Hey there! *waves*
I have moved this to be a part of video game club :)
Happy PoGoing and be safe ^^
