2nd week of Disabled Summer Camp

Tuesday July 28th

i woke up at about 4am  and went to the bathroom.  I went back to sleep and my alarm went off at 7am. I got dressed and did what I could I then opened up the dorm room door and discovered that beside Seema's room,  everyone else including overnight staff were still asleep.  So I had to knock very hard to get heard. by the overnight staff-same as before..     I then twiddle my thumbs until Susana got there and we went down for breakfast after Garret got out of the shower.   I had lucky charms, coffee,  OJ,  fruit and yogurt.   

We then went back upstairs and then waited for it to be time to go downstairs for the dental presentation.   After we got back up we had a quick lunch of sandwich b4 going to get the 905 bus to go to the movies.  we had to walk up a big hill to get to the bus stop because this bus didn't come into the campus like the other buses.   

 I didn't learn until after I pay that Toy Story 5 was in 3D.  I then waited for everyone to get a snack ( I didn't)  before Everyone but me and 2 other people went to see Supergirl  and Hannah-Tablet Girl,  Garret and I went to see Toy Story 5.  

I was really hungry when we got back to the college so when it was supper time  had 2 tacos and pop for supper I had cola and others hand orange.     

After we went back upstairs the afternoon/evening staff asked if we wanted to take  a walk and me, Seema, Stephanie, Jason, Alex ("pushy friend"), Garret and I want for a walk around the campus-I only did one round.  But we did see a pond on the campus and I then went up a not too big hill-I didn't want to do it at first but since everyone else was doing it.   It made me think of the big hill at Roman fort where Mom thought she "lost" me because of Dad not having his "listening ears on"  in 2024.   Once I asked Mom (Who then asked Dad) and Mom told me that made me remember about the "ancient Amazon Delivery"  so I told the staff there that and I told Susana the next day. 

 I then had a shower and stuff and Seema's roommate Stephanie hang out in my room with Garret and I before Garret went to bed.  I finished m water bottle and refilled it and put it in the mini fridge.  and made a check list for Sammy's Camp.   I almost forgot the towel on the list.  After Garret went to bed,  Stephanie hanged out a bit longer before I decided to turn in-everyone else turned in early because we had a "very busy day" on Wed

I ended up digging out whatever was in my palm when we did Karaoke. So the rest of the week the boo-boo scabbed over. 

Wed July 29th 

My Alarm went off at 7am. I got dressed and again had to knock on the staff door for the overtnight staff to to do my hair.  After Susana got there we had to wait for her to deal with a friend being sick before we went downstairs for breakfast.  But since I had been waiting since like 7:15am.  And we can't go down on our own.  But I was worried about missing breakfast because the hall closes at 9am.   I was very close to going down on my own regardless of what the rules are.   I had a tiny meltdown about wanting to go downstairs for breakfast and I had a mix cereal -some cheerios,  some Cinnamon toast crunch and Lucky Charms.  As well as fruit and yogurt and I also had OJ and hot choc followed by a coffee.   We then went upstairs and the staff made Caesar wraps because they didn't hand them out like they did with the sandwiches I somehow accidently took a LF (Lactose Free) wrap instead and didn't know it-I mean how am I suppose to know LF=Lactose Free when all is written on the bag is LF?   

One of our friends  Miles ate half his wrap not realizing it was his lunch.  We then went to Bowling Never End's.  I just assumed we were all mostly bowling-one of those things about clear communication.  I didn't learn until we got here about we're doing different things- mini put,  arcade, Stephanie, Seema   Garret, and Jason, Miles  and I all bowled.  Alex and Hannah "tablet girl"*   I got 164 score!.     

We then had to wolf down our lunch and get out of there.  Its when I was eating I realized that that it was bland and I somehow grabbed the wrong bag.   So they got me mayonnaise to have flavour w/ the wrap.   

We then had to get out of there that when we got to the bus stop on the other side of the street that Kerry-Anne  realized she forgot the  bag  with the Presto cards (transit cards) in them that 10 out of 11 of us had to use (Garret insisted and talked to M about using his own).    We then went to the police station didn't get to see a dog though but someone had a picture of K9  from last week.  so that was something instead of nothing.     

We then went back and I changed into my swim suit and put my shirt back on and then changed into long pants I was going to wear later.   We then went downstairs around 4:10 to use the community kitchen but there was like a party being set up.  How the world did that happen?   So we had to change the plan for supper that night to Kraft Dinner aka mac and Cheese.   Jessica the friend w/ RP (Retmitisa Pigmoentis).     

I can't remember when during the day my friend-and Seema's actually my friend unlike the others- since we know each other from a previous program.- Seema assumed that we're walking to Sammy's Camp because she over heard staff say its "a bit of a walk".   I then tried to explain to Seema  that after getting off the 407 bus we have a bit of a walk to the swimming pool and then after the swimming pool and we get changed we have a bit of a walk up to Cabin 2.   

We didn't have time to  wash our bowls so we just left them and  got booging to Sammy's Camp.  Most of us wanted swimming but Jessia, Loreli, Garrett didn't.   We then changed the plan again and had Nan pizza for lunch and burgers for supper.     Seema got out first and just as I was  trying to get myself ready to go into the change room to change back- Seema came back out dressed so I asked her nicely about if she could watch my stuff when I got changed.  And she did and yes I did thank her.   I then after everyone was ready we went to Cabin!  I collected small sticks and I found 2 hair elastics on ground so I put them on my arm.   We sang campfire songs-which I recognized from Girl Guides (Girl Scouts down in the U.S.)- Moose, Fred, juice and bed;  down by the bay where the watermelon grow and Boom Chicka Boom.    We roasted Hot dogs and because we had no choc we had to have choclateless s'mores.   I dropped by first marshemellow in the firepit and Loreli (a "friend") roasted me another one.    Then we went back to get the 407 bus back to Campus but since the Staff's flash didn't work I had to  be near the front of the first group of people and light the way  back to where we came in.    After getting back to campus I had to wait for Garret to finish and then I could have a shower.    Then I went to bed.   

Another side note:  Because it was after sunset b4 we started back to the entrance we used to get in and out of the Sammy's Camp.   Alex (Pushy friend) was starting to joke about turning into a werewolf.  I said you have to be bitten to be a werewolf.   Then she mentioned Jacob Black from Twlight  and   I said "Jacob Black isn't a werewolf  he's a shapeshifter"  but I didn't get to say much more because Alex shut the conversation done.     I'm glad I went ahead and Alex waited behind with a staff member for Jessica.    But we did hear her holwing when we're waiting when they're catching up. 

Thursday July 30th

Woke up at 6:30am and then went back to Sleep. I was about mostly dressed when the overnight staff came in to see if we're up.  I finished dressing, and did my stuff before having the overnight staff did my hair.    We then went down for breakfast and I had mutli grand cheerios.   Fruits (no grapes), yogurt,   OJ,  coffee.   I ended up sitting opposite Jason.  He asked me about the hot food that's offered and we can't have.   I said that it's probably because we need overnight staff with us and the other groups that are at the campus with us probably don't have overnight staff.   I believe Jason also asked me about packing the next day.  So i just told him what I know from my previous experience. 

I brushed my teeth after breakfast.  And I was assuming that the next day we would need to be packed up and our suitcases in the staff room before going down to breakfast.   And I got really upset because I didn't want to yell in Alex's face on Friday if she's being pushy like she's been the last 2 days about brushing teeth or "you will get bad breath" .  I was having a meltdown I tried to tell the staff several times and they brushed me off.  Or told me off for talking to other friends  about my problem with the pushy friend  or "not being in my room" but other people were walking up and down the hall-not fair I was told to go to my room.   But when the staff didn't even tell me that "we will talk to her"   makes me think they didn't care. 

This is the only time of 3 camps I have done that I had a major problem with a "friend".   

At 10am we went downstairs for Sharon and the Healthy relationships- "friends" at camp, family members,  romantic partners,  pets,  staff,  neighbours, etc.    I wanted to call Mom (I wanted to talk to someone who would actually listen to my problem) and Hannah wanted to get her egg wrap  and we're suppose to be going down to the staff room but with how the one staff member acted like "we wanted to do our own thing"  we got told off and the Staff member who told us off also said that I "would have plenty of time to call Mom after lunch"  turns out  I didn't have time after lunch because we had to boogie to the 920 bus to go to the Willow Park here in town.   But between being told off and coming back down we had to go back upstairs and grab our plate.  Since we're doing it in such a hurry-I grabbed the one plate which was abit small for the nan Pizza and when I got mine Alex was  commenting on it and I just asked her to "worry about herself".   

We then want to Willow park  and I was able to talk to "M" and she actually listened to me about my problem with Alex.   We did a bit of baseball when I was in line to wait for my turn at bat, Stephanie was at bat and I apparently was coaching her by saying  "bad ball",  "too soon",  "too late",  in my head I was joking I was turning into Dad there.    Before Stephanie was done at bat-Alex decided to kneel behind her and be a catcher-after Stephanie was done Alex was rude and tried to butt in line and take the bat and tried to use it like a baton.  i was really annoyed that I marched up to her and I kind of yelled in her face a bit but she didn't hear me  but she been a really pain that week with her teeth brushing business and to top that off with her butting in line?

I did get my turn didn't bat and I only walked to first base but both Hannah and I got taged out at Hannah's term to bat. 

We then want back to the college and I was mostly backed up except for what I was currently wearing,  the PJs, and my 2 kits.   I then called Mom and I talked to her.   Then it was time for supper.  Burgers!!    

Before we even went down to the community kitchen when everyone was waiting -Hannah realized she left her room key in her room and the door was closed when she tried it so she was yelling "I want my key!!!!"  "Courtney dooooo you have a keey!!!"    She was so loud that I understand Mom when I having a meltdown at home. 

Before Supper  a woman from Transitional Living*  came to talk to us, campers about what we would need to live on our own.  So i was able to mention about my issue about currently having to have someone there.   Seema said that if we're on ODSP or was it SO I couldn't hear over the people way at the back talking- (but I believe it's SO)-that a support worker could pick me up and drive me to my doctor's appointments.   I did mention I felt uncomfortable being driving because I preferred taking the public transit to go into Toronto- bad experience with Dad driving.    I did have a longer talk with this woman afterwards. - about how it would be nice to go into Toronto on my own,  or be able to go on vacation somewhere  w/o my parents for once.    

 Then it was time to eat- after we want back to our rooms and either had a shower or got changed into our PJs.  We then we took our folders and want to the one room and worked on our goal sheets and the budgeting and I had $48  left out of the $100 budget.  On the way to the room Stephanie was offering some Jolly ranchers to other friends (including me) the first time I passed up but I then asked if I could have one and she said yes.  It was really good.  

We then played a trivia game and I ended up with Alyssa so It meant I did the writing except for one question.  I couldn't answer something to do with Radiohead and I can't even remember question 10 or the answer for the first round.   

Then some of us stayed and did karaoke- i sang two songs -Que Sera Sea   and later on  I sang "I'll be there for you"   But Alex started getting on my nerves after it became dark because she was howling very loudly.  The others were also howling but they're weren't doing it as loudly as Alex was doing it.   And my ears kind of were still ringing from Hannah's meltdowns.    So when Alex left to let Jessica back into their room- I had another meltdown about Alex and the staff just told me to remove myself-it seems like they didn't care about my problems with Alex.   Then before they started "Let's Dance"  I decided to turn in for bed and joked about  "going to bed before turning into a wolf" - I forgot my folder and pencil stuff in the room so I had to go back for them.   Then after finishing packing up  I then went to bed.   

*Transitional Living is a new department being opened at PH (Participation House) from what I could barley hear with too many people talking- is that they're opening up something like Disabled Camp year round and doing things similar to the Camp.  Mom filled out their form the first week of camp. 

Friday July 31st. 

I woke up 6:05 and went to the bathroom and then went back to bed woke up again at 6:30am and then  my alarm went off and got dressed.  Same as yesterday the overnight staff came into the dorm room to check to see if we're up.   I then had her do my hair.  I then finished packing and got my suitcase off the desk where Mom put it (to make it easier for me to pack).  As I mentioned in previous post, I was assuming we were suppose to have our suitcases packed and in the staff room b4 we went downstairs 4breakfast.  I also on another note assumed we're leaving for DQ at 10:30am for lunch  there.   I had finished packing up and overheard Alex say we're coming back up after breakfast.    

I put the suitcase in the staffroom before breakfast and we all went downstairs for breakfast.   I ate Lucky Charms, fruit, yogurt, OJ and Coffee.   I did talk to Annalise  who sat opposite me about different things- like I had a reason to bring my coat or my backpack down w/ me for breakfast so I have a way of saving my chair when I'm getting food.   And I talked about the one time my old kit fell out of the back of a coach bus on Simcoe's day, when Mom and I were on a bus and how we got it back. 

After breakfast we went back upstairs and after using the bathroom.  I was just stuck in the room for hours.  I even drew a picture and by that time it was only 9:45am. And that's when I discovered we weren't leaving until 11:15am.   

Since I been in the room since about 9:00am... i had a meltdown its kind of looked like this "I'm bored to death!!1 I had nothing to do!!!   I been stuck in this room for entire hour!! I don't know if I can cope with another entire hour in my room!! "    Instead of a staff member talking to me they just closed the door they kept telling us to keep open so they can keep an eye on us because I was "supposedly bothering others"  but that's what happens when there is lack of clear communication of anything.  I couldn't even brush my teeth because it was in the suitcase already pack and in the staff room b4 breakfast.     

We then headed to DQ  and I got the $10 meal deal which was a cheese burger, fries, pop and blizzard (I had the choc brownie Extreme).   When people were leaving to meet up with the people who went outside- Stephanie apparently spilled pop on her self so I had servetties in my pockets both from DQ and from breakfast so I gave one to her and another one to Hannah  who had just gotten her DQ blizzard.  Two maybe 3 of the friends- Seema and Jessica- couldn't have dairy so they had a non-dairy Dilly bar which has coconut cream instead. 

On the way back Jason threw up on the bus I wasn't looking in his direction when it happened -I just heard people say "gross".  I went off the back of the bus and went back upstairs and after we got a staff with a working Room key for the staff room we took turns 2 at a time to grab our suitcases.  I almost took someone else's suitcase but I did found my own.  We  then went to the community kitchen and I worked on my journal  Right after 2:45pm my parents showed up.  It was then presentation time and they showed the parents/family who showed up what we did that week and when that was happening - cake was being handed out by the Transitional Living folks.  Apparently it was a Dairy-free cake from what i overheard.  

It was then certificate time and I got one for "Wisdom in Action" "My name is receiving  this award for her sharing her knowledge, ideas and experiences with those around her.  Name is always willing to help others learn, offer guidance and encourage growth.  Name's curiosity, willingness to share,  and passion for learning  a valuable and inspiring member of the community".   

I then had a short conversation with M about i will be reaching out about the program that Courtney and Laurie do doing the non-LRP times shortly and I then came home
