my name! i love, love, love baking, and not only is the word “baker” hidden in my last name, but i’m named after my great grandmother, who owned a bakery in poland with her brother. my distant family still owns that bakery, and that peice of family history inspired me to take up baking as a hobby

My hobbies are crocheting, baking and reading.
I learned to crochet as a child but got away from it for years. I picked it back up during the covid shutdown and have been nonstop since. I find it extremely relaxing, and very satisfying to learn new stitches and to see my finished projects.

I was in an IRTS facility for 4 months in 2023 and somehow, I got into making friendship bracelets with crochet yarn. I got really good at it and made bracelets for everyone. I got to a point where it was pointless to make them. I wanted to do something... bigger. A year ago I saw a girl on YouTube using an infinity loom to make blankets. So I got one and learned through trial and error. I LOVE it now, it's pure anxiety relief, and my blankets turn out beautiful :)

for us it was a love of arts but as a child we was not really allowed to do arts at home. dad said it was a worthless thing to do and you could never make much money at it. but we after left our now ex hubby got back into arts and crafts even went to college got degree in graphic design at age 44yr old. we still do some of that online but also paint and do many crafts too.
we love the way it make us feel when we get one done also the joy of writing came alive again after we lost our parental rights. but we did when we had our kids do arts and crafts with them. sometimes we made mess like when we had a 2yr old and 4yr old make cookies and frost them with us. good memories are around arts and crafts

@GreenOrange31 It’s alright, GreenOrange. you can always pick up a new hobby when you have the time or even rekindle your love for the old ones.
I wish it was that simple… every time I try to pick up an old hobby, it just reminds me of how much I’ve lost along the way. The spark isn’t there anymore, it feels like I’m only holding ashes, not fire.
I’ve been there! Just be patient with yourself.
@GreenOrange31 I get what you mean… it really can feel hollow when something that once lit you up doesn’t hold the same spark anymore. I’ve been there with poetry. There was a time when it all felt too overwhelming and I just stopped writing altogether. Then I found 7 Cups and began posting here. At first it was difficult to come up with anything new so I shared my old poems instead. The kindness and encouragement from people here slowly helped me fall in love with it all over again.
So I don’t think you’ve lost the spark forever... sometimes it’s just hidden, waiting to resurface in a new form or in a different season of life. Ashes still mean there was once a fire and that says something powerful about you. Maybe the flame will return in ways you don’t expect.
Just like GreenLime said, be patient with yourself and start slow, maybe find some good people to support you along the way.. you've got this!🫂

Thanks… but some days it feels like even just holding on is too much. Kindness and everything else seem so far away, like I’m stuck in a place I can’t escape from.
@GreenOrange31 I really like how you're still kind, I know kindness and positive words can sometimes feel a bit out of place when we're in dark times. But it shows that your heart still holds space for gentleness.
You're allowed to break down, I do too. You can cry, feel like giving up but just not literally :) Because if we don't hold ourselves up through the hardest storms, who else will? 💕
I always remind myself that it's okay to be lost for a while But I also try to keep a little light on somewhere, something that'll guide me back when I feel ready to move forward.
Thank you… it’s hard to even imagine holding a little light right now. Most days, it feels like the darkness has taken up all the space, and moving forward just feels impossible. I want to feel that spark again, to care about things like I used to, but it’s like I’m stuck in a place where nothing reaches me.

I relate to much of what you are saying and used to feel much the same way myself. All you have to do is just keep going.
I get what you mean… but for me, it’s not really about going anywhere. Most days it just feels like everything keeps moving while I stay stuck in the same place, unable to feel anything.
I hear you! That is very frustrating! Don’t worry about needing to “go” or “move” per se. Sorry I put pressure on you to feel you have to “move” in any certain kind of way. I was simply referring to just getting up and going to bed and getting up and going to bed every day. You don’t have to do anything fancy. Let me know your thoughts.

That's the worst part, waking up everyday to feel the same thing again and again. I sometime wish that I don't wake up one morning or if not this then atleast wake up different then I used to.
@BlueDarkAurora I’ve got plenty of hobbies but the one that has stuck is poetry writing… And what got me into it? Childhood trauma, of course 😅 but honestly, writing poetry became my coping mechanism. Also, I was also lucky to have really good English teachers who opened the door to poetry and writing and I’m grateful to them for that.

Sometimes I feel like my hobby is collecting supplies for future hobbies xD I usually paint and I got into it because of Bob Ross.
My hobby is dancing, I was interested in it for a long time but I started it when I saw someone who I was of fan of doing the type of dance that I wanted to learn. So, I did it because I was so fascinated by them.

Many, Many hours of listening to Deathcore music and analyzing how to do what type of vocal and how to do it safely. Music general, I've always been drawn to it, even though my type is the heavy kind. Lol.
