Yes to the first, and I'm still working out how the latter would work... if I were born into an alternate universe, the implication is that I would still exist in my current reality, but another me would exist in another realm, unless you're saying that the me I know would be in the other realm, living a different life, whilst the me I don't know is living here on Earth?
