This is Motivational March and so I wanted to discuss with you about your hobbies and what motivates you to get started!

Often I find it hard to motivate myself and so I might look at doing other things for a while. If I am in a 'hobby slump' and just want to find another project then that is exactly what I do. So often I might have many 'WIP' work in progress.

I also know sometimes I look at all my yarn and knitting needles and groan! I love knitting but sometimes I just want to watch tv! I found my mojo when I wanted a new beanie hat, it was something I could easily knit AND watch tv lol! And, of course I got a warm hat :)

So please take a moment to answer the following questions, of perhaps just read and think about them.

? Could you please tell me how you motivate yourself to spend time on your hobbies?

? Which hobby do you feel motivates you the most?

? Which hobby do you find the most rewarding?

I don't know if this thread is still active, but what I do know is that hobbies need be intrinsically motivating and show progression - looking for financial reward takes the intrinsic bit away and you end up with another stressor. The previous post about meditation is a good example of hobbies with motivation and seeing results built-in. I would add yoga nidra to that, one of my own pasttimes. Or pursue something truly unique where the novelty factor is enough of a driver -gravefinding, genealogy research or trig-bagging.

Could you please tell me how you motivate yourself to spend time on your hobbies?

Right now I am struggling as it's too hot so I have talked to some friends and they asked me to make some things for them

Writing! I like to write songs and poems and novels. And making things for others.

Which hobby do you find the most rewarding?

Ha, well that would be making things for others too, birthday cards. Teddy bears, jewellery, special energy bracelets.

@MistyMagic

Could you please tell me how you motivate yourself to spend time on your hobbies?
I try and find a goal, a target, usually making something for someone

? Which hobby do you feel motivates you the most?
Finishing a project so I can gift it to someone for their birthday or just to say thank-you

? Which hobby do you find the most rewarding?
Rewarding is difficult as they all do and if they don't then I stop
